Sweet Friend

This card, made by Jessie Mann, came from our swap of a few weeks ago.  I don't have this stamp set or the dies that go with it, but I have seen so many cute cards made with it, I may have to purchase them.

Stamps:  You are Loved, Jolly Bingo Bits
Cardstock:  Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Pool Party, Very Vanilla, More Amore DSP
Ink:  Raspberry Ripple, Pool Party
Accessories:  Dress-Up Framelit Dies, Small Heart Punch, Raspberry Ripple 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon

For a short week, this has been a very long week.  I am very glad tomorrow is Friday!!

Have a great day!

Another Perfect Day

After Christmas I started making cards for my class for various occasions.  I have decided some of them  must like the idea of card making because one of the girls gave me this first card for my birthday.  I think she did an excellent job!!

This second card is another card we made at our stamping meeting several weeks ago.  I just love the saying in this card...it is in Vintage Verses, which is a Sale-a-Bration set you can get for free with a $50 purchase.

Stamps:  Vintage Verses,  Madison Avenue
Cardstock:  Midnight Muse. Tangerine Tango, Crumb Cake, Whisper White,  Sycamore Street DSP
Ink:  Midnight Muse, Tangerine Tango
Accessories:  Honeycomb Embossing Folder, Big Shot, 1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch,  Crepe Filter Paper, 1 1/4" Scallop Circle Punch, 1" Square Punch, 3/16" Corner Punch

Don't you just love winter in Iowa!!  Is it going to snow or isn't it?  We have a two hour late start today because of the country roads.  I am REALLY hoping that this was winter's last hurrah!!

Have a great day!

My Thank You for 35 Wonderful Years

It is official!  The school board accepted my early separation papers last night at the school board meeting.   This is the card I gave to the school board members with a note inside, because I knew I wouldn't be able to talk without getting emotional.
Stamps:  Perfectly Perserved,  Perfectly Penned
Cardstock:  Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green, Very Vanilla, Be of Good Cheer DSP
Ink:  Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green
Accessories:  Cannery Set Framelit Dies, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder,
Gumball Green 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon

I didn't realize this till I was typing up the supply list, but I used two sets that begin with Perfectly. While in 35 years there have been ups and downs, perfect seems to sum up the overall years.  Mid-Prairie has been the perfect place to teach, raise a family, and be a member of the community.

Have a great day!

Bandaids Work Wonders!!

It is amazing how many bandaids I can go through in a week at school...not as many with fourth graders, but still a significant amount.  I bet if they had a glimmer heart on them, the consumption would go up rapidly.

This is one of the cards I received in the swap last month, when I met with other demonstrators.

Stamps:  Patterned Occasions
Cardstock:  Pool Party, Island Indigo, Whisper White, Tangerine Tango,
Champagne, Glimmer Paper, Sycamore Street DSP
Ink:  Island Indigo
Accessories:  Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Big, Shot, 1 " Square Punch, 2 3/8" Scallope circle Punch,  1 3/4" Scalloped Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Small Heart Punch

After an unplanned three day weekend, I am ready to get back to school and sail through to the end of the year. No more snow days......do you hear me weather?  Move the latest storm further south, please!!

Have a great day!

Spoil Yourself

Today has been a great birthday.  I guess you could say I spoiled myself today, by getting a manicure and pedicure, and then being taken out for supper by my daughter and son-in-law.
Stamps:  Bring on the Cake
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Pool Party Core'di'nation  Card Stock, Sycamore Street DSP
Ink:  Pool Party
Accessories:  Honeycomb Embossing Folder,  Big Shot,  Stampin' Sanding System,
Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack,  Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch,
Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack, Basic Rhinestone Jewels

I am certainly hoping that this next storm system track further south and misses us all together.  Besides not wanting to miss anymore school, I hate to see everybody traveling to Des Moines for the Mid-Prairie Girls' Basketball game on less than clear roads.

Have a great day!

Saturday Stamp Fest Sneak Peek

As soon as I am through posting this I am out the door for a Saturday shopping day in Des Moines with my daughters.  We have been planning this since Christmas and I am so glad the weather decided to cooperate with us!!

I thought I would give you a sneak peek of one of the cards we will be doing at the Saturday Stamp Fest on March 9th.

We would love to have you join us!!

Have a great day!!

Happy Birthday, Dapper Dad

I hope you all survived the snow and are safe at home. We have another snow day today.  I am through practicing for retirement and would like to request no more snow days from now to the end of the school year!!!

Today we have another card we made last Monday night.

Congratulations, Lady Golden Hawks!!

When Hanna was in high school she was a girl's basketball manager.  Her senior year we decided we were going to make the players an inspiration bag for each of the away games.  We would put water and some treats in each bag as well as an inspirational quote.  That year there were several freshmen girls that they called up to play on the varsity team.  Hanna always said they would make the state tournament sometime before those girls graduated.  Well, they are seniors this year and this is the year.  They will play in the state tournament next Tuesday afternoon.  We could hardly let that accomplishment go by without recognizing it, so last night I made these cards and the little place cards for each of the senior girls.

Good luck in the state tournament, Golden Hawks!!

Dancing in the Rain (Or Snow)

"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, its about learning how to dance in the rain."

There is something about this quote, that really strikes me.  I think for the most part, I have learned how to dance in the rain.  I just don't want to dance in the snow tomorrow!!

Can you imagine being on the ocean in a storm in this little boat!!  This is another one of the guy cards we made last Monday night.

Stamps:  Open Sea, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Cardstock: Whisper White, Midnight Muse
Ink:  Midnight Muse
Accessories:  Midnight Muse 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon

Have a great day!!

Oh, Hello

"Do you have a dime in your pocket?"  my mom always asked as I was leaving the house when I was a child.  I guess if I had a dime I would always be safe because I was only a phone call away from help.

It has been ages since I have even seen a pay phone anywhere.....I guess that is why they call this stamp set "Feeling Sentimental".

This is another one of the guy cards we did last night at stamp class.  I know I got the idea from someplace else, but I couldn't tell you where. Also, the "Hello" is really much crisper than what the photo show.  Sorry!

Stamps:  Feeling Sentimental, Oh, Hello
Cardstock:  Real Red, Basic Black, Whisper White, Twitterpated DSP
Ink:  Black Stazon, Real Red Marker
Accessories:  1" Square Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

Do you have plans for the big snow??  I am hoping that it fizzles out before it gets here.  I heard from a semi reliable source (my brother) that we are supposed to get a LOT of snow.......hope he is wrong again!!!

Have a great day!

Masculine Birthday

One of the great things I love about stamping is the sharing of ideas.  I follow a blog of a very creative stamper, Mary Fish.  This is one of the ideas she had on her blog a while back.  It is also one of the cards we made Monday night at stamp class.

Stamps:  Patterened Occasions

Tomorrow I need to get ready for stamp class Monday night and Monday afternoon Luetta and I are going to get together to plan our Saturday Stamp Fest.

Have a great day!!

Perfect Day

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day.  I think I got enough chocolate yesterday to last me until Valentine's Day next year!!!  The fourth graders really know how to plan for a party.

We had stamp club early last night so people could get home to spend the night with their loved ones.  I was amazed at the number of people eating at Godfather's last night.  It was very busy.  We were hoping the men in the tuxedoes would sing for us, but I think they were probably worn out from all of the singing telegrams and roses they delivered yesterday.  Wished I would have had my camera!!

This is another one of the cards we made at stamp class last Monday.
Stamps:  Vintage Verses
Cardstock:  Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Tea For Two DSP
Ink:  Soft Suede
Accessories:  Victoria Crochet Trim. 5/8" Flower Trim, Stampin Sponges

Have a great day!!

Beautiful Swallowtail

I love this butterfly!!  There are so many cool things you can do with this stamp. I am trying so many techniques that I haven't done for a long time.
Stamps:  Swallowtail, En Francais, Perfect Punches
Cardstock:  Rose Red, Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink:  Versamark, Basic Black, Basic Gray
Accessories:  Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Aquapainter,
Black Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Large Oval Punch

This is one of the cards that the ladies will  be making at stamp club tonight.  I hope they all like it.

Today will be an exciting day at school.  My fourth graders get to be role models and help the second grade with square dancing.  They are such an awesome class.  I can't say enough good things about them and how easy they are making my last year of teaching.

We are also having our Valentine's Party.  My valentines are all addresses and ready to be delivered to the student's envelope pouches.

Add in a Spanish class and before you know it, the day is over!!

I hope all of you have a great Valentine's Day!!

Feeling Sentimental

This stamp set, like so many others, didn't really catch my eye.  It wasn't till I started working it that I really began to like it.  The name of the stamp set is very apt...feeling Sentimental.  I can't help but think of my dad when I look at this...he could do a lot of things....but riding a bike was not one of them!!!

Stamps:  Vintage Verses, Feeling Sentimental
Cardstock:  Early Espresso, Very Vanilla
Ink:  Early Espresso

I am glad that we are half way through this week....it has been a busy one.  So busy in fact, that I couldn't even have my stamping class in Wellman this week.  Too many other meetings going on!!  I am hoping after I get home tonight that I have the energy to come up with the projects for tomorrow night's stamp club!!

Have a great day!

Swallowtail

We had a great time at stamp class last night and I got to meet some new friends.  I think they enjoyed themselves and I hope to see them at future stamp classes.  This beautiful butterfly is one of the cards we made last night.  It looks difficult to make, but is really very easy.  You get the color on the butterfly stamp by first inking it up with the Sahara Sand ink and then by drumming the markers all over it to add color.

Stamps:  Swallowtail, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Cardstock:  Elegant Eggplant, Summer Starfruit, Whisper White
Ink:  Elegant Eggplant, Sahara Sand, Old Olive, Summer Starfruit , and Elegant Eggplant Markers
Accessories:  Oval Punch, Scalloped Oval Punch

I need to get some valentines in the mail today. I have plenty made, it is just a matter of getting them addresses and sent out!!

Have a great day!

Many Candles

The car is once again packed and ready to go for stamp class tonight.  There is another large group coming tonight to stock up on their birthday cards for the year.  This is one of the cards everyone will be making. When I first saw the "Best of Birthdays" set, I wasn't too sure I liked it, but it is growing on me the more I work with it.
Stamps:  Best of Birthdays
Cardstock:  Melon Mambo, Daffodil delight, Whisper White,
Old Olive, Sunshine and Sprinkles DSP
Ink:  Black Stazon, Various Markers
Accessories:  Chevron Embossing Folder, Big Shot,  2 1/2" Circle Punch,
2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, 3/8" Melon Mambo Striped Organdy Ribbon

As soon as I am finished posting this I am off to school.  I am the captain of one of our Live Healthy Iowa teams and made the commitment to walk every morning.  Thirty-three times around our gym equals one mile, so I have been trying to do that before the kids get there.  Other than getting dizzy because we have such a small gym and I feel like I am walking in circles it has been going pretty well.

Have a great day and don't blow away!

Customer Thanks You's

My Sunday has been spent cutting card stock for Monday night and making customer thank you cards.  I think I made about three dozen of these 3 X 3 inch cards.  I think they came out really cute.

As soon as I am done posting this we are finally going to get to go out for John's birthday supper.  His birthday was January 25th, but either weather or schedules has kept us from going.

See you tomorrow night at stamp class!

Happy Valentine's Day

I just returned from a very successful stamping event at the Public Library in Wellman.  Approximately 30 people (kids and adults) stamped 3 different valentine cards. I think a good time was had by all.  We have another event planned for the Saturday before Mother's Day.

This is another one of the cards that they stamped.
Stamps:  wacky Wishes, Hearts a Flutter
Cardstock:  Real Red, Whisper White, Pretty In Pink
Ink:  Basic Black, Pretty In Pink, Real Red

My afternoon will be spent cutting cardstock for stamp class Monday night at Godfather's pizza.  See you there.

Have a great day!

Olive You!!

Last night was spent cutting cardstock for the Library stamping event on Saturday.  This is one of the cards that the kids can choose to stamp.  Very simple and easy to manage with 25 kids.

Stamps:  Best of Love, Hearts a Flutter
Cardstock:  Real Red, Basic Black, Old Olive, Whisper White

Ink:  Real Red, Basic Black, Real red Marker, Old Olive Marker

Tonight John and I are meeting Hanna in Sigourney for pizza.  We need to exchange several things and her schedule has not allowed her to come home to get them. She emailed me yesterday that she had been crafting up a storm and needed more supplies.  I am anxious to see what she has been making!!

Have a great day!

Bright and Cheery Thanks

I am loving the warmer weather....it can just keep on warming up as far as I am concerned.  February is not typically one of my favorite months, but this year it seems to be moving at the speed of lightening.

Today's card is another one that the ladies that came to the SUperbowl Open House made.  With just a change of sentiment, this card can be made into any type of card you would like.  I took along several other greeting sets, so people could make whatever type of card they needed.
Stamps:  Vintage Verses (Sale-a-Bration Set)
Cardstock:  Pool Party, Island Indigo, Whisper White, Sycamore Street DSP (Sale-a-Bration)
Ink:  Island Indigo
Accessories:  Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack (Sale-a-Bration), Island Indigo Baker's Twine

When I get home from school tonight I hope I have the energy and the ideas to come up with valentine cards for kids to stamp.  Saturday morning I am stamping valentines at the public library with over 20 children. I hope inspiration strikes tonight!!  Wish me luck!!

Congratulations, Starfish

The kids were so excited to get their cards yesterday through our school post office.....the first thing they asked was what am I going to make for them next week!!

Today's card is another one some of them received for "Bubbling Up" on our reading incentive board.  Our room is starfish themed and they get so many points for each book they read.  As they gain points they "bubble up" from the bottom of the ocean to the top.  Those that gained a level last Friday received this card.  I think I better have plenty on hand....because they are all working to get one of these now!!

Stamps:  Sassy Salutations, By The Seashore
Cardstock:  Island Indigo, Pool Party, Whisper White, Sycamore Street DSP
Ink:  Island Indigo
Accessories:  1 3/4" Circe Punch, 2 3/8" Scalloped Circle Punch

I love when I can combine my two passions....teaching and stamping.  I am also going to be stamping at the Wellman Library with a group of children and their mother's on Saturday as we make Valentine cards.

Have a great day!

Smarty Pants

Did I have my work cut out for me or not last night!!! Every single one of my students improved on their standardized math test they took yesterday morning....and not by a little but some of them by huge amounts!!!   Yesterday, I posted the card the girls would get if they improved on their test and today we have the card the boys will get.  I had 21 cards to make last night.....but it was well worth it.  They were so pleased with themselves and so was I!!!

Stamps:  Patterned Occasions
Cardstock:  Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White, Sycamore Street DSP
Ink:  Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo
Accessories:  Sycamore Street Button and Ribbon Pack, Large Oval Punch, Decorative label Punch

Tonight promises to be another quiet night!!  I have some other things I would like to get made tonight and will be posting in a couple of days.

Have a great day!!

Bloomin' Marvelous

Today my class is taking another standardized test...this time in math.  This is the card the girls will receive if their score improves over last fall.
Add caption

I am not sure yet what card the boys will be getting. I don't think they would appreciate flowers and butterflies.
Stamps:  Blooming Marvelous
Cardstock:  Lucky Limeade, Daffodil Delight, Sunshine and Sprinkles DSP
Ink:  Lucky Limeade , Daffidil Delight, Island Indigo
Accessories:  Vine Street Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Scallop Trim Border Punch,

We also made this card yesterday at the Superbowl/SAB Open House.  There were several ladies there and we all had a great time.

So far, there has been nothing new added to my schedule this week...so it looks to be a relaxing one.  YEAH!!!

Have a great day!

SUperBowl Open House

The car is packed once again and I am ready to go for the SUperbowl Openhouse this afternoon.  Stop by and see me at Godfather's Pizza from 1-3.

This is one of the cards we will be making this afternoon.

Stamps:  Oh, Hello, Feeling Sentimental
Cardstock:  Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, First Edition DSP
Ink:  Crumb Cake, Early Espresso
Accessories:  1" Square Punch, Natural Buttons

The birthday party yesterday was a huge success.  I think the girls were all pleased with their name banners and they all did an awesome job.

Maybe I should knock on wood or something, but this appears to be a pretty quiet week at the Wilson household.  Let's just hope this pans out!!

Have a great day!

Birthday Party/Name Banners

Today is starting off much better than yesterday...I have heat and warm water....what more could I ask for.

Today I am helping a former student celebrate her birthday by stamping name banners with them at her birthday party.  It should be tons of fun.....all of these girls are very crafty and I enjoy working with all of them.

The supplies we are using on this project are for the most part retired...but you could make these name banners with any stamps....flowers, sports themed, school colors....the ideas are endless.  The one product that is NOT retired in this project is the Scallop Square Bigz Clear Die and the Big Shot.

This afternoon will be spent planning and cutting projects for my SU Bowl party at Godfather's Pizza tomorrow afternoon from 1-3.  Stop by and make some projects and check out all of the cool Sale-a-Bration products.
