Passing of Time

We had a great time at the wedding of my niece this weekend.  It started raining about an hour before the outdoor wedding was to start and believe it or not it stopped raining just as she was getting ready to walk down the aisle.  It was a beautiful wedding and the sun came out for a couple of minutes as the minister pronounced them husband and wife....pretty cool!!!

All weekend long, my brothers were giving me a hard time about being retired and doing what I want, when I want...even if it is stamping.  As I was going through my already made stacks of cards when we got home Sunday evening, I found this one.   I think they need to learn this!!!!!

Today I will be working on filling some orders I have gotten for cards and also starting to work on some name banners for Hanna.....23 of them to be precise!!!

Luetta is coming over after school and we are going to start to plan our Saturday Stamp Fest...October 19th if you care to join us!!!

The New Mr. & Mrs.

As soon as I am done posting this we are off to my niece's wedding, so I thought it would be fitting to share a wedding card.

Believe it or not I did get her gift done yesterday, but then wrapped it up before taking a picture.  Part of her gift was thank you notes to match her wedding invitations.  It took me a while but I did get all 50 of them done yesterday afternoon.

I hope you have a great Saturday!!

Birthday Wishes

Last August when I got together with other demonstrators, we made a card similar to this one.  When I was surfing, I found this card that is the same technique.  We made this card last Monday night at Godfather's.

Yesterday I had good intentions of making my niece's wedding gift, but I ended up going to Iowa City to run errands and then stopping at school around lunch time to visit the kids.  It was great to see them all.

BUT...that means that I have to get the gift done today...so I will be glued to my stamping table until they are done!!!

Have a great day!

Thankful

I wasn't too sure I would like the Expressions Thinlit Dies when I first got them, so I went blog surfing to see how they were being used.  This is one of the cards I found...sorry.....can't remember where.....and one of the cards everybody made last Monday night.

Stamps:  Truly Grateful
Cardstock:  Soft Suede, Whisper White, Seasons of Style DSP
Ink:  Soft Suede
Accessories:  Pretty Print Embossing Folder, Expressions Thinlit Dies, Big Shot, 1 3/8" Circle Punch,
1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch, 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon

I must say, once I figured out the easiest way to get the words out of the die (thanks, Judy), I think I will really like them.  Look for more ideas to come using the other words...Merry and Love.

Today I will spend working on a wedding gift for my niece that is getting married this weekend.  I wouldn't be me if I didn't leave something till the last minute!!!

Have a great day!

Peace On Earth

When I first saw this stamp set, Mosaic Madness, I thought the shapes would make great Christmas ornaments. This is one of two cards that everybody made on Saturday at the Christmas card class that uses the stamps as Christmas ornaments.  If you are looking for a card that you can make multiples of in a very short time, then here is your card!!!

Have a great day!!

New Favorite Color Combination

I think my new favorite color combination is this silver, blue and gray combination.  When I looked at the cards we made on Saturday, five of the fifteen used this combination.  It is even more striking in person.

Stamps:  Joyful Christmas
Cardstock:  Basic Gray, Winter Frost Specialty DSP, Vellum Cardstock
Ink:  Versamark
Accessories:  Silver Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Retired White Satin Ribbon,
Frosted Finishes Embellishments

Today will be spent finishing up for card class tonight. John and I took the day to go antiquing yesterday so I did not get everything done I had planned.  I have extra packets if you want to join me tonight!!

I'm Back and The First 30 Card Christmas Class

After a lengthy break in blogging where I was just enjoying retirement, I am back.  Yesterday was the first of two 30 card Christmas classes.  Each attendee made two of the following cards.  We had a great time stamping the day away.

Today I will be busy cutting cardstock and getting ready for Monday night's stamping night at Godfather's.  Shoot me an email and join us for a Girl's Night Out of stamping.  We will be making fall all occasion cards.

Happy Birthday Wishes

We had a great time stamping last night at Godfather's Pizza.  There were several of us there and I got to meet some new stampers.  I think everyone had a good time. This is one of the birthday cards that we made last night.  It uses one of my favorite color combinations!!

Stamps:  Summer Silhouettes, Petite Pairs
Cardstock:  Elegant Eggplant,  Pear Pizzazz, Very Vanilla

Accessories:  Fancy Fan Embossing Folder, Big Shot, 1 3/8" Circle Punch,

Today is going to be a low key day.  After the weekend and then working yesterday to get ready for last night, I think I am going to take it easy today.  A book sounds like an excellent idea.  Hopefully this is the last extremely hot day we will have.  But it seems like I said that a couple of weeks ago as well.

Have a great day!!

Are You Ready For Some Christmas Cards???

My mind is turning to Christmas even though the weather is still HOT!!!  This is one of the cards that we will be making at my Peek Into Santa's Workshop class on the 21st of the month.  There is still time to let me know you are coming.  I will be ordering supplies later in the week.

Stamps:  Lovely As A Tree
Cardstock:  Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla
Ink:  Always Artichoke
Accessories:  Delicate Designs Embossing Folders,  Large Scallop Edgelits, Big Shot,
Linen Thread. Basisc Pearl Jewels

We had a great time on our trip to Minneapolis.  I think I shopped till I was about ready to drop.  We were staying in a hotel that was connected to the Mall so it was very handy to walk back to the room to rest for a little bit or to drop off purchases and then go out again.  The only glitch was on the way home when I missed the turnoff for my highway and ended up going all the way to Des Moines and then home.  I thought I had taken us WAY out of the way but come to find out when I Mapquested it this morning that it was only 40 miles further.  I guess if that is the worst thing that happened on the trip, we were pretty fortunate.

Today I will be cutting cardstock for tonight and getting everything organized.  Hope to see you at Godfather's tonight for birthday cards.

You're Too Kind

Here is another one of the cards that the members of stamp club did on Thursday night.  I found this example as I was surfing the net and decided that they would love it.  The masking tape technique is so easy but yet gives a very neat look.

Stamps:  Too Kind
Cardstock:  Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Ink:  Pool Party, Crumb Cake Pear Pizzazz, Early Espresso
There is absolutely no stamping on the agenda for today!!  John and I came with another couple to Minneapolis last night.  John and Neil will fish the day away and Paula and I are going to the Mall of America and the Ikea store.  Everybody has always talked about Ikea so I hope I am as impressed as they all are!!

Have a great day!!

Truly Grateful Magnificent Maple

Stamp Club met for the first time last night.  We are going to try and do a new technique each month.  I was blog surfing and found this card (can't remember where) and knew it would be a great technique for our first meeting.

Cardstock:  Very Vanilla
Ink:  Cajun Craze, Tangerine Tango, Pumpkin Pie, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso
Accessories:  1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon, Word Window Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, Stamping Sponges
If you would like to be a member of our buying stamp club and learn new techniques, you can still join us. We meet the first Thursday of each month.

Have a great day!!

Flower Shop Happy Birthday

The Flower Shop set and the coordinating pansy punch did not even catch my eye until I went to convention.  We saw so many cool cards and I got so many neat swaps when we were there that it went on my first order as soon as I got home.  This bright and cheery birthday card is one we will be making Monday night at Godfather's.

I know I have said this before and you will probably get tired of hearing me say it, but I am SO happy staying at home and spending time in my craft room.  I also love the freedom to go where I want whenever I want.  I truly LOVED teaching and my students but I am also loving my new life after teaching!!!

Have a great day!

I am having a great time reorganizing my stamp room. The cooler weather sure is nice to be able to get things done.

Have a great day!!

Hello, You

Sorry for no posts the last couple of days.  We were up and out of the house EARLY to go to Old Thresher's and to flea markets.

Today we have a beautiful fall card that I received as a swap at convention.

Stamps:  Daydream Medallions (the center of the medallions), Gently Falling,  Regarding Dahlias
Cardstock:  Early Espresso, Naturals Ivory, Crushed Curry
Ink:  Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, Crushed Curry
Accessories:  Scalloped Edge Border Punch

This is my great flea market find.......a beautiful wooden case that was taken out of a first grade classroom in an elementary school  It has slots for 24 colors of cardstock and is a great height for working on.  While I was debating whether or not to buy it, one of my stamping friends came along...so Hanna said.... "Mom, here is your sign!!  Buy it!!"  Thanks to my daughter and son-in-law for bringing it home and helping me get it in my stamping room.

Today will be a day of rearranging the rest of the room and also getting some stamping done for some orders that came in over the weekend.

Have a great day!!
