Celebrate

Paper Pumpkin Kits are good not only for the projects that they are designed for, but also for other projects as well.  I did a google search for other ideas and came up with several.  This card was made with bits and pieces of the Pinwheel Kit that were left on my stamping table.  I have one more card tomorrow to share that is also made with left over pieces.

The only item on the agenda for today is to finish going through retired product in preparation for my garage sale next week.  I will have so much room in my stamping room when I get the garage sale stuff out of there and also when we move Hanna and her crafting stuff goes to her apartment. WOW!!!!

Pinwheel Wreath

After looking at my banner and pinwheels on my buffet for a while yesterday, I decided that it needed something more, so made a wreath with pinwheels that I had left over.  It was really easy to make.  I started with a styrofoam wreath and wrapped it with burlap ribbon and then just proceeded to pin the pinwheels around the whole thing.  I took some of the straws that were in the kit, flattened them and then wrapped them around a pencil so that they would curl.  The little "celebrate" banners were also part of the kit.  I think this has to be my favorite Paper Pumpkin kit of all time!!

After I finished the wreath I used some of the other left over pieces to make some cards.  I will post those later this week.

4th of July Decorations

The Fourth of July is a big holiday in the Wilson household.  Ever since we moved in 25 years ago, we have celebrated the 4th with friends and family. The parade goes right by our house so the lawn is always filled with people looking for a good spot to watch.  After the parade, I usually have a buffet type lunch with salads, sandwiches and desserts.  This year the July Paper Pumkpin Kit and the decorations made from it will add to the festivities. The banner idea comes from one I saw on Facebook somewhere.  Hanna decorated the buffet with a banner at Christmas and we have made several other since then.  Now it looks kind of funny without something adorning it.

Tonight John and I are meeting some friends for supper and planning our road trip to Maine.  We had been talking about doing this for a while, and last Saturday, while at a celebration of life event for another friend we decided we should just do it and not talk about it.  So at the end of the month we will be on a road adventure!!

Hello There

The more I work with the new In Colors, the more I am really loving them.  I found this one as I was going through the web last week when I was in Missouri.  I really liked the ombre effect and it works so well in a variety of colors.  This is one of the cards everyone stamping with me this week will be making.

Cardstock:  Tangelo Twist, Whisper White
Ink:  Tangelo Twist
Accessories:  3/8" Tangelo Twist Stitched Satin Ribbon

This weekend we celebrated the life of a very close friend…in fact he was best man at our wedding 25 years ago.  In visiting with people it was brought home to me again (even though I already know this) how important relationships and friendships are.  And how things that you say and conversations you have with people really do make a difference and can have a great impact on them.

Every day is truly a gift….make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Work of Art

Work of Art was the stamp set that was given to us when we went to the catalog premier at the end of April.  There are a ton of samples floating around using this set.  I found this one somewhere and stuck it in my samples folder.  We made it at the last stamp night.  It was a big hit with everyone.

#friendsarethebest

Yesterday was a great day spent stamping with wonderful friends.  Hanna came home unexpectedly and was able to go with me.  Today we spent the morning making cards for her to give her campers at the end of each week.  These are single layer cards with plenty of room for her to write a personal message.

I Love the New In-Colors

Today I am lucky enough to get to spend the day stamping with some great people.  My demonstrator friend, Susie, has very graciously adopted me into her group.  She is a wonderful inspiration.

This is one of the cards that I am taking for one of our swaps.  It is also one of the cards everybody made last week at stamp night.

Stamps:  Petite Petals, Something To Say
Cardstock:  Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Tangelo Twist,

It has been very quiet around here lately.  Hanna has been counseling at a summer camp, so the activity level in our house has certainly gone down.  I guess I had better get used to it since she will be moving to the Des Moines area the middle of July.

Blended Blooms

Have you ever had parts and pieces of cards sitting around on your stamping table from unrelated cards and all of a sudden they come together in a totally new card?  That is what happened with this card.  I have had the black base with the Rich Razzleberry layer sitting on my shelf like forever.  Tonight while working with the flower from Blended Bloom, I decided to try coloring it with the new Blendabilitiy markers that will be available at a later date.  I am really kind of pleased with the way it turned out.

Oh, Happy Day

When I first saw the new In-Colors I was not all that impressed.  However, after having them in my hot little fist and playing with them for a while, I think I am really going to love them.  They coordinate so we with our other colors and actually really work well together, too.  This is one of the cards that everybody made last night at Godfather's Pizza.

Cardstock:  Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Whisper White, Basic Gray, Moonlight DSP Stack
Ink:  Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey Marker

My family and I have been frequenting flea markets quite a bit lately and I have picked up some real gems for my stamping room.  Last Sunday I got this sweet former tool cabinet that had been cleaned up and is great for storing a ton of my stamping supplies.  I though about painting over the gray paint and then decided I liked it the way it was.   The green cabinet that is on top of it was something I picked up when my daughters and I went on a road trip to different antique stores and flea markets in central Iowa a month or so ago.  It now hold all of my current ribbon spools and embellishments.

Although I love going to the flea markets, I think I have bought all the fleas I need or my room can hold for a while!!
