Today is my volunteering day at Hospice.  I am finding this very rewarding as well as enjoying.  I hope to run a few errands when I am done and then to come home and spend the afternoon finishing up some stamping projects from before I went to Nashville.

March Paper Pumpkin

My March Paper Pumpkin came right before Hanna and I left for Nashville.  I finally had time to put it together.

This kit came with all the supplies to make 9 cards.  I chose 3 birthday, 3 thank you, and 3 hello cards.

You also get all of these stamps as well as a black Stampin' Spot.

I love the different patterned card stock that was available for the cards.

And the best news is that you still have 2 days to take advantage of the sale on a 3 month subscription for Paper Pumpkin . . . only $54.95 plus tax for three months of stamping awesomeness delivered right to your door.  And what is even better news is that because Sale-a-Bration is going on this subscription will qualify you for a free product from the Sale-a-Bration brochure.  But you will have to hurry because you only have until Tuesday evening to take advantage of all of this!!

Email me today and let me know you would like to subscribe.

I love when my stampers take the supplies I give them and come up with another card option.  This is the same color card stock, it just looks different because of the lighting when I took the picture.  I really like this option better!!

Last night after school was out my niece and four of her friends and another mother came and helped Hanna move all of her furniture.  Hanna works with these kids on Sunday nights at Youth Group in the church that she attends. They had everything moved and a bookshelf put together in about 90 minutes. It was awesome. We ordered some pizzas for supper and then the kids hung out and watched a couple of movies while I collapsed.  We wouldn't have been able to do it without them!!

Today Julie, Jason, and John are coming to Adel to finish up things and help with hanging pictures, decorations, and curtains.

I am sitting in Hanna's apartment waiting on the cable and electric guy to come and switch over the services to the new apartment.  We got her kitchen all moved last night and while she is at work today I plan on moving all of her clothes to the new place.  Luckily it is right down the hall and involves no stairs!!!  I am thinking it really won't take all that long to get the clothes done so I may do some window shopping in Des Moines for the rest of the day!!  The youth group she helps with at the church she attends is coming over tonight to help with moving some of the heavy stuff.   Pizza is a great motivator!!

I had a great time stamping yesterday with my former student and her mom.  She is a great little stamper and does things so much more quickly and easier than either her mom or I!!

Today I am going to finish cleaning and picking things up from our stamping yesterday and then pack my bags again and take off for Adel.  Hanna is moving this weekend to another apartment in the same building, but needs someone there bright and early in the morning when the cable and electric people come to change the service.  I love being retired and able to help out!!

For Being You

What a nice surprise when Stampin' Up! introduced four new Sale-a-Bration sets the first of March.  I really like this set . . . For Being You.  This card also uses another new set . . . Nature's Perfection.  This was another idea I found on Pinterest and that everybody got to make this week.

Another card I found on Pinterest last week was this butterfly card.    It really is very simple to make although looks much more difficult.  It is also one that everybody got to make last night.

Here is it in blues and greens, but I am thinking oranges and yellows would also be very cute, bright, and springy.

Whisper White, Sheer Perfection Vellum Stack
Ink:  Lost Lagoon, Pool Party, Subtles Markers,

I am certainly glad that we did not get the freezing rain that was predicted for us last night.  I am planning on going to the city to volunteer at Hospice and to run some errands that I did not get done last night.  I hope to spend the afternoon in my stamp room getting ready for some upcoming craft shows.

Be sure to check out the weekly deals this week…there are some awesome things on there!!

Petal Potpourri

While I was in Nashville I had plenty of time to surf and find inspiration for this week's Make-It-Monday.  I found this card on a blog called Dannie's Design.

The colors are much darker than what I usually use, but I really like the way it turned out!!  Everybody will be making one of these this week.

Ink:  Island Indigo, Memento Black Ink
Accessories:  Spring Flowers textured Embossing Folder,

Flower Medallion Punch,
Island Indigo 3/4" Chevron Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals

Yesterday was a good working day.  I actually got everything ready for tonight and was even able to watch both the Iowa and UNI basketball games,  although I wish the results had been better.

Today will be spent catching up around the house from being gone all last week.  Not fun tasks, but things that need to be done.  Hopefully I will get done a little early so I can go to the city early and run a few errands.

Hanna and I made it home safely about 5:00 last night.  We ate a quick supper and then she went on to Adel so that she would have a day to get organized before going back to work/school tomorrow.  It was an awesome week . . . first time in 60 years I have ever gone anywhere for spring break!!

Today I will be busily planning and cutting card stock for Make-It-Monday tomorrow night.  I hope it goes well!!

Hopefully by the time you are reading this we are well on our way home from Nashville.  Yesterday we visited the school where the boys we came to see attend.  It was so interesting to visit another school and see how things are done in another part of the country.  However . . . kids are kids . . . so it was not all that different from what we see every day at home.  Last night we went to the boys house for supper and had a great time.  I think this picture pretty much sums it up!!

Butterfly Basics

Here is another card I received as a swap in Orlando.  What an awesome wedding card!!

I love this Designer Series Paper and Sahara Sand Ribbon.  You might recognize the flower and think that trim has been retired . . . it is included in the Artisan Embellishment Kit in the Occasions catalog.

Yesterday we toured a southern plantation, Belle Meade . . . I could just see Gone With the Wind while walking around the site.

And believe it or not . . . they actually had a rack of handmade cards . . . many with Stampin' Up products.

We also did the more traditional visit . . . the Grand Ole Opry.

Butterfly Basics

Are you ready for some more butterflies?  Here is another card that I took a picture of on the display boards in Orlando.

The sentiment on this card is another on of my favorites!!

We have done some very non-traditional things while in Nashville. Yesterday we went to Franklin, Tennessee, where the bloodiest five hours of the Civil war were fought.  We toured Carnton Plantation, a beautiful plantation house that was turned into an impromptu hospital during this battle.

We also toured a couple other period houses in Franklin.  We rounded out the day eating at a Mexican restaurant that was billed as one of Nashville's best.

Today we are going to Belle Meade Plantation and maybe tour the Grand Ole Opry.

Painted Petals

Check out the birthday card I received from my friend, Luetta.  I absolutely love the Painted Petals stamp set!!!

Yesterday, we had a very full day in Nashville.  Hanna, my Language Arts teaching nerdy daughter, had to go see the full scale recreation of the Parthenon, that was featured in the Percy Jackson series of young adult books.  It really was pretty cool.

From the Parthenon, we had to check out the Nashville store site of the American Pickers.  Kind of funny that Hanna had to come all the way to Tennessee to see their store when we live about an hour away from the one in Iowa.

From there we went to lunch and then picked up two of the brothers that we came to Nashville to see and took them to the Nashville Zoo.

We ended the day by taking the boys to a Pizza Hut for supper and then came back to the hotel.  I think Hanna and I were both asleep by 9:00 and slept almost 12 hours.

Today we are checking out some civil war sites and some plantations.  Totally not your traditional Nashville vacation, but then when have we ever done things the traditional way!!

Eveyday is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Butterfly Basics

Check out another card I got as a swap in Orlando.  This one uses the big butterfly thinlit.  I love this color combination!!

I wasn't sure when I first saw the thin lit id the big butterfly would fit very well on a regular size card, but as you can see it does quite well.

Ink:  Crisp Cantaloupe
Accessories:  Butterfly Thinlits, Spring Flowers Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Stampin' Sponges,

Four states, 586 miles, a couple of detours, a couple of shopping stops and we reached our destination of Nashville early last evening.
As soon as I am done posting this we are out the door to start our day eating breakfast at a Waffle House (Hanna's request), then go visit the site of Antique Archeology, The Parthenon, and spend the afternoon at the Nashville Zoo.  We will then meet some friends for supper.  A FULL day!!

Painted Petals

I love, love, love, the Painted Petals stamp set.  After I let home my mom redecorated my bedroom as most moms do.  This stamp set when used with Perfect Plum and Old Olive reminds me so much of her . . . this is exactly what the wall paper and comforter looked like in that room.

This was another one of the cards that was on the display board in Orlando so of course I had to take a picture of it!!

Stamps:  Painted Petals
Cardstock:  Perfect Plum, Old Olive, Whisper White
Ink:  Perfect Plum, Old Olive
Accessories:  Spring Flowers Textured Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Pearl Basic Jewels,
Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals, Stampin' Sponges

My garage sale was a HUGE success and I thank any of you who came and checked it out or bought something.  I have hardly anything left to put back into my room which is a good thing.  Hanna and I are going to take a few things to Goodwill when we go today, but other than that most everything is gone!!

Today will be spent running errand and finishing up packing for our trip to Nashville.  We are leaving early tomorrow morning and our looking forward to our week.

For some reason I was up bright and early today.  Two cups of coffee and one load of laundry and I am ready for another day of my garage sale.  There is still a lot of Designer Series Paper and lots of stamps sets left.  Hanna will be home sometime later today and then the focus will shift to getting ready for our trip to Nashville.  As nice as the weather has been here, I hope it is even nicer down there.
