June Paper Pumpkin

Continuing with Paper Pumpkin week . . . here is the second card made according to the designs given in the kit.

I love how absolutely everything is included in the kit each month.

This morning is my volunteer morning at Hospice.  When I am done I plan to run a few errands and then come home and try to make some more progress on my convention swaps.  I got a really good start on them yesterday . . . they are all designed and one of them is all cut out and ready to assemble.

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Happy Stamping!!

Everything you need to make this card is included in Paper Pumpkin . . . including the envelope!!  Check back tomorrow for another great idea!!

Today I am working on some of my swaps for convention and trying to get some things done around the house before Hanna comes home and we leave to go to Florida for a week.  No reading for me today!!

A couple of the gals in the Facebook group I belong to have been making screen cards so of course I had to try my hand at it.

I did indeed spend the afternoon yesterday sitting on my patio reading.  It was quite pleasant sitting there, however I got distracted quite often by my friend who would come and eat some grass, stare at me, go back to eating grass, and stare at me some more.

I am actually out there again as I type this watching her and listening to the raindrops hit the overhang.  I think this may become my new morning routine!!

Sprinkles of Life

So . . .  yesterday didn't go quite as planned.  As I was getting ready to leave for Adel, I was reading the newspaper on-line one last time and noticed that they had gotten over 7 inches of rain the night before.  Things were a mess down there as well as many Des Moines streets being flooded.  Since I had just seen Hanna and she will also be coming home next Friday, and I was only going for the jewelry party, I decided it would be best if I just stayed home and ordered on line.  So instead . . . I made this card!!

I thought maybe they could use a silver lining in their cloud with all of the rain . . . my philosophy of life . . . kind of like looking through rose colored glasses!!

Stamps: Sprinkles of Life
Cardstock:  Soft Sky, Basic Black, Whisper White,
scraps of what ever color you want your raindrops
Ink:  Memento Black Ink, Versamark
Accessories:  Silver Embossing Powder, Heat Tool,
Tree Builder Punch, Crystal Effects, Glue Dots,
Stampin' Dimensionals

Today I would like to start thinking about what I want to do for my swaps for convention.  I would kind of like to have them done before Hanna and I leave for Florida as I will only have about six days between trips!!  Wish me luck!!

Watercolor Wings

I have been wanting to try the Watercolor Wings stamp set since it arrived and today was the day!!

This is not my favorite color combination so I am anxious to try it in a little bolder, brighter colors!!  And as you can see the butterfly is not exactly centered in the photo although the he is on the card!!

Stamps:  Watercolor Wings
Cardstock:  Sahara Sand, Pink Pirouette, Very Vanilla
Ink:  Sahara Sand, Pink Pirouette
Accessories:  Big Shot, Word Window Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

My post is very late this morning and here is the reason why . . . my morning companions on my porch while I read this morning!!

It is kind of neat to sit there and watch the mama robin fly back and forth feeding her babies!!  Let me tell you, though, she sure does not like it when I water my plants or first come to sit down!!

As soon as I am done posting this I am out the door to go to Adel.  Hanna is having a jewelry party this afternoon and evening so off I go!!

Yesterday was the perfect day to finally clean off my back patio and front porch.  It was not too hot, not too cold, not raining, and I had nothing pressing I had to do.  I even washed off all of the white porch railings with soap and water!!  After finishing, I decided I earned the right to spend the rest of the afternoon sitting on my newly cleaned patio reading a book.  It was awesome.

Yesterday was a great day.  We had a fun time on our flea market junket.

I bought myself a selfie stick because I thought they looked fun.  This is my first attempt.  Clearly there is a huge learning curve in trying to use one.  My second attempt was no bitter . . . in fact I took 109 pictures of the same thing. I am hoping to have it figured it out by the time we go to Tampa and convention.

Today I am planning on getting things ready for Make-It-Monday tomorrow night.

Remarkable You

This was a stamp set that really jumped out at me when I first saw the new catalog this year.  I love calla lilies so of source it is a favorite.

It is very hard to see in the photos, but I did stamp the blossoms again, cut them out, and then popped them up with dimensionals.

Stamps:  Remarkable You, Trust God
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Old Olive, Smoky Slate
Ink:  Black Stazon, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive
Accessories:  Blender Pens, Stampin Dimensionals

This has been a crazy week!!  After my trip to Des Moines to get a new computer, it seems like I have been behind all week.  It took most of Tuesday to get it all set up and running.  Hanna came home Wednesday and we have been on the go constantly.  Appointments and shopping for our trip to Tampa after the 4th of July have kept us running.

As soon as I am done posting this we are heading out the door to spend the day with our other daughter and son-in-law antiquing along the Mississippi River for Father's Day.  Let's hope the weather cooperates and we can stop at some of the outdoor flea markets we love over there!!

Lucky me . . . NOT . . . as soon as I am done posting this I am out the door to go to Des Moines to have lunch with Hanna and make a trip to the Apple Store to get a new home computer.  The lunch part is great, the new computer not so much!!  Our nine year old Apple Desktop model decided to give it up.  I guess it really doesn't owe us anything . . . 9 years is a long time in the life of a computer!!

I needed a 40th wedding anniversary card today.  I checked on line to see what color to use for a 40th anniversary and I knew they liked butterflies so here it is.

I did use a retired Big Shot die for the numbers.  Now I know that I need to order the number thinlits in the new catalog.

Cardstock:  Cherry Cobbler, Silver Foil, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer Paper
Accessories:  Butterflies Thinlits, Lovely Lace Embossing Folder,

Sprinkles of Life

I have used the Sprinkles of Life set for ice cream cones and cupcakes, but never for a tree, so decided now was the time.

Once again I love the sentiment on this card.  Everything has a silver lining, sometimes it is just hard to find!!

Stamps:  Sprinkles of Life
Cardstock:  Whipser White, Cherry On Top DSP Stack
Ink:  Cucumber Crush, Early Espresso, Lost Lagoon
Accessories:  Triple Banner Punch, Tree Builder Punch,
Brights Candy Dots, Brights Designer Buttons, Whisper White Baker's Twine,
Stampin' Dimensionals, Glue Dots

Summer can officially start now since I spent most of the day yesterday switching out closets from winter to summer.  No two people need six tubs of clothes, but six tubs we have.  Six tubs up the basement stairs, and six tubs down the basement stairs.  But, the silver lining to all of that is that I have a whole new wardrobe to choose from when deciding what I want to wear today!!  I also finally turned on the air conditioner, so I know  summer is here.

Flower Shop

Here is another card that uses the same basic sketch as the one yesterday.

Luetta brought this one to our stamping meeting a couple of weeks ago.

Cardstock:  Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush, Whisper White
Ink:  Watermelon Wonder, Crushed Curry

I can't decide which card to do . . . the one yesterday or the one today.  Which do you like better?

There was no stamping in this house yesterday . . . when I got home from volunteering I was so sleepy that I napped the afternoon away!!  Maybe today after I get done switching the closets from winter to summer, there will be some stamping time!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Build a Birthday

Here is one of the cards I am debating about doing at our next stamp night.

I love the bright and cheery colors that are in the Cherry on Top Washi Tape. Even though my photography doesn't show it, the card is actually Watermelon Wonder.

Stamps:  Build a Birthday
Cardstock: Watermelon Wonder, Whisper White
Ink:  Watermelon Wonder, Crushed Curry
Accessories:  1 3/4" Circle Punch, 2" Circle Punch,
Basic Rhinestone Jewels, Stampin' Dimensionals

Today I decided was the day to start walking again.  I actually made it out the door and walked a mile to start my day. Now this doesn't seem like very far, but you have to start somewhere, and with my knees and feet, I decided to ease into it a little bit.  I would like to build up to three or four miles a day by the end of the summer.  We will see how I do with my goal.

As soon as I am done posting this I am out the door for my volunteer morning at Hospice.  I have a huge box of new stamping goodies coming this afternoon, so I hope to spend the rest of my day playing with those!!

Crazy About You

Here is one of the cards everybody will be making tonight at Make-It-Monday from a blog I follow called Stamp With Amy.  A mix of old and new….with an awesome sentiment!

Watermelon Wonder is one of those colors that looks totally different depending on the colors you pair it with.

Stamps:  Crazy About You, You've Got This
Cardstock:  Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Whisper White, Cherry On Top DSP Stack
Ink:  Crushed Curry, Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush
Accessories:  Flower Medallion Punch, Regals Candy Dots, Stampin' Dimensionals

The flea market yesterday was a lot of fun.  The only flea I bought was the best strawberry rhubarb pie I have had in a long time.  After the flea market we spent the rest of the morning driving around the reservoir and Lake McBride and visiting about our trip to Maine.  We finished the outing by having lunch at Red Lobster.

I was actually able to get everything cut and bagged for stamp night tonight. The only thing left to do is to gather some supplies and I am ready to go!!

Build a Birthday

Today's card is another one that came from the stamping meeting last Saturday.  Again I am not sure who brought this card, but I like the color combination. (Nicole Slaubaugh brought this card I am told.)

I really need to use my word thinlits more that I do.  They really are a nice touch on a card.

Stamps:  Build a Birthday
Cardstock:  Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry
Ink:  Bermuda Bay, Rich Razzleberry, Delightful Dijon
Accessories:  Hello You Thinlits, Big Shot, 2" Circle Punch

Yesterday's shopping trip was a success, although not as much as we might have liked.  We each came home with a new pair of shoes.  We were hoping for a couple of pairs, but the size and styles were just not in stock at the stores we went to.

As soon as I am done posting this John and I are out the door to meet our daughter and her husband to go looking for some fleas.  There is a flea market that we really like in Iowa City this morning so we are going to be early birds and try to get some great deals.  I hope to spend the afternoon and evening cutting card stock for tomorrow night.

You've Got This

Hmmmmm . . . I am thinking this has got to be my favorite new set in the catalog . . . at least until I get some of the sets that weren't available for our preorder.  This is another card that came from the stamping meeting last Saturday and again I don't know who brought it, but I LOVE it!!  (Kimberly Miller from Cedar Rapids brought this card.)  I am trying to figure out a way we can make this one Monday night as well, even though I am using this set in the card I showed yesterday.

I will figure out a way though!!  Because I like it so much!!!

Cardstock:  Tip Top Taupe, Watermelon Wonder
Ink:  Tip Top Taupe, Versamark
Accessories:  Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Big Shot,

As soon as I am done posting this I am out the for  a day of shopping with my oldest daughter in Cedar Rapids.  We are both on the search for some new summer shoes.  I am sure we will find things other than shoes, but that is my main goal!!  I hope to be able to cut some cardstock tonight as well.

You've Got This

Here is another card from the downline meting last Saturday.  The worst part about not being able to go is that I have no idea who brought this beautiful card and who to give credit to!!

This is one of the cards everybody stamping Monday night will be making at Make-It-Monday!!  What is that ribbon you might ask!!!  It is actually the 1 1/4" Cherry Cobbler Striped Gros Grain Ribbon cut lengthwise!  That is one of the greatest things about getting together with other demos and stampers . . . you get ideas you would never have thought of!!

Stamps:  You've Got This, Crazy About You
Cardstock:  Basic Black, Whisper White, Neutrals DSP Stack
Ink:  Cherry Cobbler, Memento Black Ink
Accessories:  2" Circle Punch, Lace Doilies,
1 1/4" Cherry Cobbler Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals, Glue Dots

I am hoping to get my front porch and my back patio cleaned off today.  I finally have a  free day when the weather is nice enough to be outside to do it.  It would be great to sit outside in the mornings with my coffee and listen to the birds sing!!

Best Thoughts

The second technique people will be learning tonight is faux silk.   The hostess set, Best Thoughts, lends itself very well to this technique.

Once again, I love the sentiments in the stamp set!!
