Snowflake Sentiments

I am still moving in semi slow motion, but I did whip up this card this morning to show another way to use the designer series paper that is on sale this month.

When I first saw theses starburst cards I thought they would be rather difficult but they are really rather easy.  And don't forget that today is the last day to take advantage of the Buy 3 Designer Papers and get one for FREE!!  You can see the papers that are on special here.  If you would still like to order any, I will be putting in one last order tonight.

Stamps: Snowflake Sentiments
Cardstock: Real red, ShadeWhisper Whited Spruce,
Designer Series Paper: Under the Mistletoe
Ink: Shaded Spruce
Accessories: Layering Circles Framelits, Big Shot,
2 1/4" Circle Punch, Real Red Basic Jewels,
Stampin' Dimensionals

I was true to my word yesterday and did nothing but rest . . . my suitcase is still packed sitting in front of the fireplace.  We had a phone call from some friends that came from Maine for the wedding that they would like to come and visit so today will be a low activity day as well!!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Happy Stamping!!

Flourishing Framelits

I am getting somewhat of a later start today . . . but with good reason!!  More on that at the bottom of the post.   I struggled and struggled to come up with a special wedding card for Jake and Hanna.  Last week when I was looking for a wedding picture of my mom and dad that Hanna wanted I came across the wedding card and advice that my dad had made and given John and I when we got married and all of a sudden the idea popped into my head,  The sentiment "Marriage is a Journey" went perfectly with what I put inside.

Because I had a lot to put in the inside I made this card a little bigger . . . more like 5" X 7".  They laughed at the grocery store when I went down and bought a $0.50 card because I wanted the envelope!!

Stamps: Flourishing Phrases
Cardstock: Whisper White
Ink: Memento Black Ink
Accessories: Flourish Thinlit Dies, Layering Circle Framelits,
Gently Falling Embossing Folder, Big Shot,
corner sPearl Basic Jewels, Fine Tip Glue Pen

What is this you might ask?  It is the empty corner that has been wedding corner central since the first of the year.  Kind of symbolic of empty nest syndrome!!!  But you raise your kids to be independent thriving adults and that is just what happened!!

This weekend was everything we could have asked for and more!!  The weather was perfect, the bride was beautiful, and we had more friends and family bless us with their presence than we could have ever thought possible!!  I put my phone away and just lived in the moment because I did not want to see everything through the little lens of my camera, so there are no pictures coming from me!!  But I have more wonderful memories in my head than I can replay in a long time!!

Now . . . what am I going to do with all my free time . . . this week I am going to rest, rest, rest!!

Everyday is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you ahem been given today!!

Happy Stamping!!

Blended Seasons

Back again with the Blended Seasons stamp set that will soon be available. This time I wanted to try the multi-colored embossing powder technique that we did at technique club a couple of months ago. I actually think it turned out pretty nice!!!

I thought this sentiment was quite appropriate since this is wedding weekend and I know there are plenty of those friends that are going to be around.

Stamps: Blended Seasons
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Grapefruit Grove, Espresso, Whisper White
Ink: Early Espresso
Accessories:  Versamark, 2018-2020 Embossing Powders,
Heat Tool, Nature's twine, Basic Pearl Jewels,
Stampin' Dimensionals

As soon as I am done posting this I am out the door to head to Adel to do some last minute things for the wedding.  Jake's mom and I and two other friends are going to go out for lunch and finish up some shopping for the rehearsal dinner and the reception.  Julie and Jason will be bringing John over later tonight.

I am not going to be posting until Monday morning.  I plan on soaking up all the wonderfulness of the weekend and being with family and friends!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Happy Stamping!!

Sorry For Everything

Sympathy cards are not my favorite kind of card to make but I seem to use quite a few of them. They are one kind of card I have to have made up in advance because I cannot sit down to make one when I need it!!

This is another one of the cards everyone stamping this week got to make.

Stamps: Sorry For Everything
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Nature's Poem
Ink: Soft Suede, Crumb Cake
Accessories:  Layering Ovals Framelits, Big Shot, Nature's Twine,
Stampin' Sponges, Stampin' Dimensionals

Packing, packing, packing!!!  That is on the agenda for today.  The corner of my kitchen will not know what to do when everything is gone.  It has been wedding corner since the first of the year as I have been gathering things and taking them to Adel whenever I go. It will be weird to see it completely empty!!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Happy Stamping!!

 Healing Hugs

When I made several of these fun fold panel cards last month, I knew I wanted to make them at a Make-It-Monday night.  I am trying to do more than the traditional card folded in half at each class.  Sometimes I succeed and sometimes not!!

I absolutely cannot get enough of this Healing Hugs stamp set. I love, love, love it!!

When this card opens up you can see the variety of designer series paper used and the unique fold.

Stamps: Healing Hugs

Designer Series Paper: Tropical Escape
Ink: Granny Apple Green, Blushing Bride
Accessories: Layering Circles Framelits,

After an early morning hair appointment, the rest of my day is totally clear.  Not sure what I plan to do but I should probably start to think about what all I need to pack to take with me for the weekend's festivities!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Happy Stamping!!

A Little Wild

I love this little elephant guy and to me he just says "baby". Although this is Petal Pink cardstock, it seems peachy enough that you could use it for a little boy or a little girl.

Once again, I had to include some designer series paper.  This is the month to get paper if you want to stock up, because it is buy 3 get one free on selected designer series paper.

Stamps: A Little Wild
Cardstock: Whisper White Thick, Petal Pink, Gray Granite, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Twinkle Twinkle
Ink: Smoky Slate
Accessories: Little Loves Framelits, Subtle Embossing Folder,
Big Shot, Starburst Punch, 2" Circle Punch,
Triple Banner Punch, Whisper White Baker's Twine,
Mini Glue Dots, Stampin' Dimensionals

Everything is cut, gathered and organized for tomorrow night's Make-It-Monday.  All I need to do is load the car.  That means other than a trip to the grocery store, I can take it easy the rest of the day!!  Not much more on the agenda than watching the Cubs this afternoon and reading a new mystery book I started the other night!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Happy Stamping!!

Rooted In Nature

This card which everyone is making this week was one that Jan brought to our demonstrator meeting back in June and that was a shoebox swap.

I love the combination of Blueberry Bushel and black and white.  This card uses several different stamp sets, but is worth it, I think!!

Stamps: Rooted In Nature, Touches of Texture, Beautiful Bouquet
Cardstock: Blueberry Bushel, Basic black, Whisper White
Ink: Blueberry Bushel, Memento Black
Accessories: Stitched Shapes Framelits, Detailed Dragonfly Framelits,
Big Shot, Starburst Punch, Clear Wink of Stella,
Basic Rhinestone Jewels, Stampin' Dimensionals

We are down to one week and counting.  I was sitting here thinking this morning that I can hardly believe what all has happened in the last two years!!  The lows and the highs of life!!  The highs are much higher and much more appreciated after the lows.  I am certainly blessed to be here and to be able to see Hanna marry the man of her dreams!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Happy Stamping!!

Celebrate You Thinlits

Everyone stamping on Monday night will be making this card that could work for many occasions.  This card definitely fits my use my designer paper mood these days!!

I debated which of the patterns of paper too use with the gold foil and decided that I liked this one the best because of the darker tones in it.  The metallic pearls on the Tufted embossed piece of vanilla cardstock are just the perfect accent.

Cardstock: Petal Pink, Very Vanilla, Gold Foil
Designer Series Paper: Petal Promenade
Accessories: Celebrate You Thinlits, Tufted Embossing Folder,
Big Shot, Metallic Pearls, Multipurpose Liquid Glue

I can't really believe this but I have all of my samples made for Monday night all ready.  It is amazing how much time I have again since there is no wedding stamping to be doing!!  I may even start to cut cardstock today or I may just play around with some of the new things I have gotten over the last couple of months that I haven't had a chance to use!!  My car is getting its oil changed today so I am grounded at home, so I can't thank of a better place to spend the day than in my stamp room.

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Happy Stamping!!

Blended Seasons

Back again with another Blended Seasons card.  I think this stamp set may become one of my favorites even though it is only available for a month.  So far I have only explored the flower stamp in this set.  It also has leaves and holly and and bells and some other flowers.  It has other sentiments besides this one as well . . . but I seem to be in wedding gear lately.  LOL

I saw the color inspiration for this card on Pinterest and just changed the orientation and the sentiment.  I love these colors together!!

Stamps: Blended Seasons
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Grapefruit Grove, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla
Ink: Early Espresso
Accessories: Layering Ovals Framelits, Big Shot,
Versamark, 2018-2020 In Color Embossing Powders,
Heat Tool, Nature's Twine, True Gentlemen Buttons,
Glue Dots, Stampin' Dimensionals

I finished up the rehearsal dinner favors early yesterday afternoon, so unless something else comes up I think I am done with the wedding stamping. I still need to make our card for Hanna and Jake, but that can happen next week.

I have an appointment for my shoulder this afternoon and the Cubs play again tonight, but in between I will be working on designing cards for upcoming stamp nights and just taking it easy before the storm of activities next week.

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Perennial Birthday

Once again it was Susie to the rescue for this last card that everyone made that stamped with me last week.  It was one we made at a demonstrator meeting at the end of June.

I think I do have to say that the Petal Promenade is probably my favorite designer series paper in this catalog!!

Stamps: Perennial Birthday
Cardstock: Blushing bride, Poppy Parade, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Petal Promenade
Ink: Poppy Parade
Accessories:  1 3/4" Circle Punch, Starburst Punch,
2 1/4" Circle Punch. Clear Faceted Gems

Yesterday's shopping trip and lunch was a success.  I managed to get everything on the list and then some.  I even managed to get all of the rehearsal dinner favors about half done.  I am hoping to finish those up today!!  I do need to figure out what we are doing for next week's Make It Monday.   It will be here before you know it!!

Dandelion Wishes

Even though Lauren and Cooper haven't opened their wedding card yet, I decided to share it today.  Knowing what colors I had used in everything else made it very easy to choose colors for their card.

I love the little metallic pearls and they were the perfect accent for this card!!

Stamps: Dandelion Wishes, Abstract Impressions
Cardstock: Very Vanilla Thick, Blushing Bride, Very Vanilla, Gold Shimmer Paper
Ink: memento Black, Blushing Bride
Accessories: layering Circles Frmelits, Tufted Embossing Folder,
Big Shot, 2 1/4" Circle Punch, Metallic Pearls,
Tear and Tape, Stampin' Dimensionals

They are finally coming to look at my washing machine today.  I sure do hope I do not have to get a new one for a couple of reasons . . . I don't want to have to buy a new one, and I need to do laundry today and don't want to have to go to the laundromat.  Oh well . . . I guess time will tell.  In the meantime while I am waiting for them to come I might as well get busy on Hanna's rehearsal dinner favors.  I don't think they will take that long to do but if they are done that is one thing to check off the list (which I am sure will grow as the week goes on)!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Wedding #1 Programs

Wedding #1 this month is in the books so I can now share one of the things that has been keeping me busy . . . the wedding programs.

They used the same retired stamps and current colors as the Save the Dates and the invitations.

I love the eclectic look of all of the flower stamps together.  Even though they came from four different sets they all work well together.

Stamps: Various retired flower stamps
Cardstock: Very Vanilla
Ink: Powder, Pink, Blushing Bride, Soft Suede, Fresh Fig

The wedding was absolutely perfect yesterday and the reception at the vineyard was awesome.  After all of the worry about the weather, it was a delightful evening.

John and I got up early this morning and headed for home.  I think today is going to be a day of rest before starting in on all of the last minute things I need to do for Hanna's wedding in a couple of weeks.

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Abstract Impressions

Continuing on my paper using cards, here is one featuring the Best Route Designer Series Paper.

Once you get started it is really very easy to use your paper.  I have always been afraid to use it because once it is gone, it is gone.  But I have figured out that there are always going to be other papers that I like and I can use the same layout and it looks like a different card depending on the stamp and designs in the paper.

Stamps: Abstract Impressions
Cardstock: Blueberry Bushel, Mango Melody, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Best Route
Ink: Blueberry Bushel
Accessories:Banner Triple Punch,
Best Route Enamel Shapes, Stampin' Dimensionals

Thankfully the storms have passed the Des Moines area and it is going to be a beautiful day for Hanna's friend, Lauren's wedding.  The programs were delivered safely yesterday afternoon.  John's suit fitting went well and the suit for Hanna's wedding fits perfectly!!  We even bought him a pair of black boots to go with the suit!!

We have nothing to do today so may go exploring to find a bridge that I have seen pictures of and have always wanted to see.  That would certainly be more fun that sitting in the hotel room, since it is an evening wedding.

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Stitched All Around

Hmmm . . . . for some reason my mind is on weddings all the time lately!!  I wonder why that would be??  The Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper has come in quite handy lately!!

This super quick card was made with a panel of the paper with a simple sentiment stamped in the middle, a couple of pearls and a couple of layers and voila ha ha!!  You have an awesome wedding card!!

Stamps: Stitched All Around
Cardstock: Mossy Meadow, Highland Heather
Designer Series Paper: Petal Promenade
Ink: Mossy Meadow
Accessories: Pearl Basic Jewels

I told John yesterday morning that I was tired of stamping and I was going to take a break yesterday and not stamp anything.  Yeah . . . like that would every happen!!  I ended up going back to my room mid-afternoon and I finished stamping up all of the half cards I had left over from classes and clubs . . . so now all of my baskets are empty again!!  It really is a good feeling to have that all caught up!!

Today John and I are headed to the Des Moines area.  He has a suit fitting this afternoon for the suit we purchased him for Hanna's wedding.  Tomorrow is Lauren's wedding in the evening.  I have no idea what we are going to do all day tomorrow but I am sure we will think of something!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Happy Stamping!!

Abstract Impressions

Today's card, which everyone made on Monday night, again comes straight from a card I made at one of  Susie's events.

This Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper is absolutely awesome.  With all of the weddings I have coming up it is just perfect for those cards!!

Wedding mission accomplished again . . . all 400 of the little envelopes have been stamped with the custom stamp awaiting Hanna and her friend to fill them in the next two weeks.  Now on to the third wedding mission that came up yesterday . . . favors for the rehearsal dinner.  Hanna and I designed them yesterday afternoon and I want to get a start on them today.  They will take a little longer to finish . . . all I can say is that it is a good thing I stocked up on Wisteria Wonder cardstock before it retired!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

All Good Things

All Good Things was on my wish list from the new catalog just because it was a DistINKtive stamp and I love the look of the stamped image.  I really didn't look at the individual stamps or the sentiments.

That is until I made this card for stamp night on Monday.  Now I have to say that I love the sentiments in this set.  I am debating about custom mounting these because the saying is attached to the images and sometimes I would like to just have this sentiment!!

Stamps: All Good Things
Cardstock: Tranquil Tide, Whisper White Thick, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Tranquil Textures
Ink: Tranquil Tide
Accessories:Subtle Embossing Folder, Big Shot,
Nature's Twine, Stampin' Dimensionals

Mission accomplished . . . all of the programs are stamped, cut, boxed, and awaiting delivery this weekend when we go to Lauren's wedding.  Now on to the next wedding project . . . we ordered a custom made stamp for Hanna's wedding favors.  It finally came in so I need to pick it up at the post office and then stamp the 450+ little envelopes that will contain the favors.  I am thinking that since it is small, it might be a good job to do during the ball game this afternoon.  I am sure glad it is an afternoon game . . . these late night games are catching up with me . . . I am getting a late start this morning.

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Happy Stamping!!

July 10, 2018

Abstract Impressions

Here is another card, straight from a shoebox swap that Susie provided a couple of weeks ago, that everyone got to make last night at Make-it-Monday.

I am so happy that Mossy Meadow is a returning color.  It is such a rich dark green!!  And it pairs nicely with so many other colors.

Stamps: Abstract Impressions
Cardstock: Mossy Meadow, Merry Merlot, Whisper White
Ink: Mossy Meadow, Merry Merlot,
Accessories: 5/8" Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon, Banner Triple Punch,
Mini Glue Dots, Stampin' Dimensionals

It was a late night after the Cubs game last night . . . so I'm not moving that fast this morning.  In fact, after working on Lauren's programs for a while a nap may even be calling my name this afternoon . . . especially if I want to stay awake to watch the baseball game tonight.  I do wish the west coast games were afternoon games instead of night games . . . makes for a tired stamper!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Happy Stamping!!

Abstract Impressions

Continuing on my quest to use my designer series papers, this is another card everyone stamping tonight will be making.

I love the Garden Impressions paper . . . regardless of which side I choose to use.  They are all awesome!!

Springtime Impressions Framelits, Petal Burst Embossing Folder,

Everything is ready for tonight sitting by the door waiting to be loaded into the car. I need to bake a batch of cookies for John to take to Old Guy Coffee this afternoon and work on Lauren's programs this morning.  I have a ton of errands to run in Iowa City so will be leaving early for stamp night tonight.  I hope to have the energy to watch the Cubs when I get home.  They are playing on the west coast so the game will be late, late, late!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Happy Stamping!!

Rooted In Nature

I am still on my path to use my designer series paper instead of hoarding it. This is one of the cards everyone will be making tomorrow night at Make-It-Monday.

I am not sure I ever would have put Blackberry Bliss with Grapefruit Grove but I do really like it.  I can see using this paper a lot in the fall!!  So since it is on sale this month I better stock up on it!!

Stamps: Rooted In Nature

Designer Series Paper: Nature's Poem
Ink: Blackberry Bliss
Accessories:  Stitched Shapes Framelits, Layering Circles Framelits,

Yesterday was a very restful day with a little stamping and a lot of baseball. Today will be reversed . . . a lot of stamping and a little baseball.  I am hoping to get everything cut so I can stuff the envelopes during the Cubs game this afternoon.

Rooted in Nature

The second technique we worked with on Thursday night was masked singing. This was a card and a technique that my friend, Susie, did at her team meeting last Saturday.

Mango Melody is a new color that goes surprisingly well with a lot of other colors.  When I first saw it I wasn't that thrilled with it but I find myself going to it a lot.  In fact, when I looked at my paper supply yesterday, I was surprised to find that I had no Mango Melody cardstock left!!

Stamps:  Rooted in Nature
 Cardstock: Mango Melody, Whisper White
Ink: Mango Melody, Highland Heather, Rich Razzleberry, Memento Black
Accessories: Stampin' Sponges, Nature's Twine

The main item on the agenda today is to see about getting my washing machine repaired.  It suddenly decided in the middle of a load of laundry yesterday that it did not want to spin.  Since it has a locking lid, I fiddled around with it and was at least able to get the lid open to get my clothes out. It took several cycles through the dryer to get them dry, but at least they are clean and dry.  Hopefully it is just a broken or loose belt and not a major repair!!

Loyal and True

Last night was the first Thursday night of the month so that meant it was Technique/Stamp club.  One of the techniques one of the members picked out was faux metal, so we cased the sample in the catalog.  This was the perfect month to do it as it is in keeping with the patriotic cards of the last couple of days.

I had done this technique before but it had been many many years ago!  It is a little time consuming and messy, but it really cool!!

Stamps: Loyal and True, Love What You Do
Cardstock: Real red, Blueberry Bushel, Whisper White, Silver Foil
Ink: Real Red, Blueberry Bushel
Accessories: Wood Crate Framelits, Big Shot,
Versamark, Silver Embossing Powder, Heat Tool,
Aquapainters, Stampin' Dimensionals

There is absolutely nothing on the agenda for today . . . probably one of the last few calm days before the storm.  I do need to get the stamping done on Lauren's programs for her wedding, but I think that will wait until tomorrow!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Happy 4th of July - - - Take Two

I made a couple of 4th of July cards for my blog yesterday and decided I liked them both so am sharing this one today.

I think I actually like the color combination of Blueberry Bushel, Real Red, and Whisper White better for patriotic cards than when I use Night of Navy for the blue.

Stamps: Swirly Frames
Cardstock: Blueberry Bushel, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: Blueberry Bushel, real red
Accessories: Wood Crate Framelits, Tufted Embossing Folder,
Big Shot, Blueberry Bushel 1/8" Gos Grain Ribbon,
Pearl Basic Jewels, Stampin' Dimensionals

Yesterday was a HOT HOT HOT day of flea marketing!!  Hanna found a few fleas that she wants to use for wedding decorations but other than that nobody really bought anything . . . not sure if it was the heat or just nothing very interesting but we were done looking at both the Johnson County Fairgrounds and Mount Vernon by noon.  We stopped at Applebees for lunch and Hanna and Jake headed for Adel and the rest of us came home to out air conditioned houses and rested all afternoon.  I even managed to see the last of the Cubs game.

Today is going to be a very busy day.  I start out with an early morning hair appointment and then an appointment to get my dress altered for the wedding.  I am have appointment for my shoulder in the afternoon and then Technique/Stamp Club in the evening.  Sometime in there I do need to get things ready for stamp club tonight!!

Everyday is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today
