Thankful Thoughts

Another one of the cards that the fourth graders made was this thank you card.  Super super simple, but gets the message across loud and clear!!

For this particular card I used the Painted Seasons Designer Series paper, but this would be an excellent way to use up all of those scraps of DSP you might have laying around.  Depending on what pattern is on the paper, they would have totally different looks!!!

Stamps: Thankful Thoughts
Cardstock: Call Me Clover, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Painted Seasons
Ink: Call Me Clover
Accessories:  Layering Ovals Framelits, Big Shot, Stampin' Dimensionals

Today is the last day of Sale-a-Bration!!!  What an awesome three months of stamping it has been (if you take out the bad weather)!!  Do you have all of the Sale-a-Bration products you need??  I will be placing one last order Sunday night if there is anything else you need!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Hello Cupcake

Hello Cupcake may be one of those sets that I keep for kids stamping if yesterday is anything to judge by!!

I thought this card would be the most difficult for the fourth graders to stamp but it turns out it was the easiest and the one that they had no questions about whatsoever!!

Stamps: Hello Cupcake
Cardstock: Whisper White Thick, Lemon Line Twist, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Gingham Gala
Ink: Early Espresso, Lemon Lime Twist
Accessories:  Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies,
Rectangle Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies,
Big Shot, Gingham Gala Adhesive Backed Sequins,
Organdy Ribbon combo Pack

The fourth grade stamping went very well yesterday.  I think if they ask if they can stay in from recess to finish their cards, it would be called a success. The fun thing was there were several kids in the class whose parents I had taught at some point in my years of teaching!!     As well as some of the staff members that popped in during our stamping time.  I did come home and take a rest, however!!

The fish fry was also great.  The tilapia was just as good if not better than I had remembered it!!  I am hoping to get back one more time before they are done for the year!!

Today is going to be basketball and Cubs game with some stamping thrown in the middle.  I need to get the supplies and cards ready for our Sale-a-Bration Celebration on Monday night!!

So . . . today I am doing something I really never thought I would do . . . I am volunteering in a 4th grade classroom!!!  Not as a teacher . . . but as a cardmaker.  I will be making four #simplestamping cards with them today and showing them a little about the mechanics of both cardmaking and stamping.  The above card is one of them we will be making.  We are also making a birthday card, a thank you card, and a get well card.  I am really kind of looking forward to it!!

Tonight we will be going to a fish fry with some friends!!  This is an awesome tine of year to try out all of the little community fish fries and we are starting tonight!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Butterfly Gala

Simple, simple, simple . . . sometimes you just need a card in a hurry and simple is what works best!!!  Nothing could be much simpler that this card which uses the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper and a couple of colors of ink!!!

Once again I found this simple card on Pinterest and thought it would be a great card for Make-It-Monday.

Stamps: Butterfly Gala
Cardstock: Whisper White Thick, Basic Black, Mango Melody
Ink:  Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Black Memento
Designer Series Paper: Botanical Butterfly
Accessories: Stampin Dimensionals

I spent sometime yesterday in my stamping room looking and measuring and planning for how I am going to use the new storage system on my existing shelves.  I am so excited for this . . . I know I will be up early Monday to place my order so I can get them all in place.  I am trying to decide if I want to have another garage sale this summer (although it will be on a much smaller basis) or if I want to wait a year and have a huge one.  I guess I have some time to think about it.  it might depend on how many sets I have that are retiring this year!!!

Life Is Grand

Life is indeed grand and this card shares that with everyone!!!  The stamp is suppose to have a small "with you" under the word grand but I custom cut the stamp because I wanted just the main part of the sentiment!!

This card which I found on Pinterest and comes from a blog called DOstampinwithdawno.com is one everyone made last night at Make-It-Monday.  I think we all agreed that the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper is pretty awesome no matter what side of it you use!!

Stamps: Life Is Grand
Cardstock: Whisper White Thick, Gorgeous Grape, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Botanical Butterly
Ink: Gorgeous Grape
Accessories:  Triple Banner Punch, Basic Rhinestone Jewels,
Stampin' Dimensionals

My morning has been all out of sync and here is why!!  I opened up my email to this!!

So of course I had to go to my demonstrator website to see what it was all about!!!

And then after reading all about it and seeing the dimensions I had to go to my stamping room and measure my shelves to see if this will work for me and I am happy to say it will!!!!  I am so excited to order these on April 1st!!

Also . . . many of you have commented on my pretty grid paper that I have been using at stamp nights.  It will also be available for purchase on April 1st . . . so you too can have your very own pack if you wish!!

By this time John was up and about and realized that he had lost his glasses and thought he had left them at "Old Guy Coffee" yesterday afternoon.  So I went with him to look and it is a good thing I did.  He looked all around and could not find them anywhere so I decided to look under the couch that is in the cabin and low and behold . . . there they were.  So he can see clearly again!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Humming Along

Humming Along pretty well describes life right now . . . just Humming Along enjoying the nicer weather and just life in general!!  What could be better!!

I saw a card on Pinterest similar to this and thought it would be a great opportunity to use some of the Botanical Butterfly paper that I have in my stash.  The paper that I got for FREE as a Sale-a-Bration item!!  This is one of the cards that everyone will be making tonight at Make-It-Monday.

Stamps: Humming Along
Cardstock: Petal Pink, Flirty Flamingo, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Botanical Butterfly
Ink: Black Memento, Flirty Flamingo
Stampin' Blends:  Flirty Flamingo Combo Pack
Accessories:  Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies, Big Shot,
Gingham Gala Adhesive Backed Sequins, Stampin' Dimensionals

Although the Hawks did not pull off a win yesterday they sure did make it interesting!!  It was hard to stuff envelopes at the end of the game because the paper kept flying all over whenever they would do something great.  The Hawkeye women did very well and that game was just as exciting to watch!!  I did get my envelopes stuffed during other basketball games at least!!

Everything is ready to go for tonight.  I think I will go up to Iowa City a little early to run some errands.  One thing on my list is to stop at the Kalona Coffee House and schedule another Coffee and Cards for April.

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

This is another one of the cards that we made back in January at the Susie celebration.  I can't wait until the Butterfly Duet Punch is back in stock.  It is oh so very cool.  You will want to stock up on the Sale-a-Bration item . . . What a day yesterday!!  Luetta and I went for our birthday lunch and got back in the car just in time to hear the Hawkeyes start playing well.  I got home for the last six minutes of the game which was absolutely awesome . . . the only part of the game I really needed to see.  I went straight from the men's basketball tournament to the women's basketball tournament to cheer on the Hawkeye Women . . . and see another great win!!  The rest of the day was spent crafting in my recliner watching other various tournament games until I could no longer keep my eyes open!!   I remember laying down on the couch to watch the Iowa State game . . . but do not remember seeing any of the game at all!!

Today will be a repeat of crafting and basketball until Julie and Jason pick us up and we head to Grinnell to meet Jake and Hanna and celebrate the winter birthdays . . . mostly mine and Jake's.  Again the weather and schedules have not been kind to celebrating . . . so tonight is the night!!

I am sure more basketball will be on the agenda when I get home from lunch!!

Check out another Birthday Bonanza card.  I love the little hat that comes with the set.  There are framelits that coordinate with this set, but not for the hat.  I fussy cut it with my scissors.

I had a great day yesterday once I was done at the dentist.  That is not my favorite thing in the world to do!!  I met my sister-in-law and niece for lunch and visiting time, and then went on to Jake and Hanna's house.  In the evening I was fortunate enough to meet most of them members of the team that is going on the New York Mission trip.  It was good to meet them in person . . . not just by phone or Face-time.   Jake, Hanna and I then went to supper at a great Italian restaurant and then called it a night.

I plan to spend the rest of the day in my craft room finishing up spare packets of cards and getting things ready for the next stamp night.

Amazing Life

Life is certainly amazing and so is this stamp set.  I haven't used it much, but now that Sale-a-Bration is almost over it will definitely see some use.

When Hanna was a little girl she always used to set a trap for a leprechaun on the night before St. Patrick's Day.  I had to put some gold on this card because the leprechaun would always leave her gold but she could never catch him!!

Stamps: Amazing Life

Ink: Call Me Clover
Accessories:  Stitched Shapes Framelits, Big Shot,
1/8" Call Me Clover Gros Grain Ribbon, Gold Faceted Gems,

Talking about an amazing life . . . yesterday Jason and Julie came and hung my coffee mug rack so I could display my travel Starbucks mugs.

I have been collecting them since shortly before I retired.   I did not realize I had so many because they have just been in a cupboard.  Yesterday was the day to hang them all.  As you can see, I have more traveling to do because I have more spaces for mugs!!  Hmmmm . . . where shall I go???

Life is Grand

Life is Grand is one stamp set that I did not order right away.  Why, you might ask?  I am not really sure because the name of the set and the sentiments in it are right up my alley.

I finally broke down and ordered it a couple of weeks ago and when I was searching for a sentiment to put on this card, I decided that this one would be perfect!

Stamps: Life Is Grand
Cardstock: Gorgeous Grape, Whisper White
Ink: Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather
Accessories: Layering Ovals Framelits, Country Floral Embossing Folder,
Big Shot, Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack, Mini Glue Dots,
Stampin' Dimensionals

I was a total basketball junkie yesterday and even though the Hawks did not have the outcome I would have liked, I am going to be a basketball junkie again today.  I love this time in March . . . because the weather is getting better and there are so many basketball tournaments on TV.  I have actually set up a little stamping station in the living room so I can still feel like I am accomplishing something!!

Julie and Jason are coming over later this afternoon to finish hanging some things up for us, so then I can finish organizing jewelry and coffee cups.  Odd combination, I know!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Strong & Beautiful

One of the best things about stamping is the people you meet and the friendships you make.  The statement on this card is oh so very true!!!

This is another one of the cards that everyone got to make on Monday night.  I am really loving this designer series paper and will be sorry to see it go at the end of the month.

Designer Series Paper: Painted Seasons
Ink: Call Me Clover

Today started bright and early with an appointment to get one of my tires fixed . . . good news is that is was just a seal and that I did not need new tires.  I was supposed to have a hair appointment tomorrow, but she texted a little bit ago that her daughter is sick and she will need to stay home with her tomorrow so could I come today.  Of course I can . . . one of the great things about retirement!!  And then after that I am meeting some friends in Kalona for supper.  What started as a not very full day has suddenly become full.  I am hoping to spend a little time stamping this afternoon, finishing up left over kits from he last couple of stamp nights. And of course watching the Hawks play basketball tonight.  I only hope they do well and play like they can, not like they have been playing!!

Painted Seasons

Whenever I see this purple and green combination it always reminds me of a bedroom at my mom and dad's house.  I think it has to be one of my favorite color combinations because of that.

This is another one of the cards that everyone got to make on Monday night. The framelits for this Painted Seasons set made it so much better just like they did for the Lasting Lily set.

Lasting Lily

I didn't think it was possible for the Lasting Lily set to get any better, but I think it just did with the framelits.  When you can pop something up and give it a little dimension it just makes it so much better!!

This is one of the cards that every one made last night at Make-It-Monday.  I think many agreed with me about the framelits as many decided they needed their own set!!

I also do need to get cardstock cut for Coffee and Cards at the Kalona Coffee shop tomorrow night.  If you would like to join us, let me know!!

Geared Up Garage

The minute I saw the Classic Garage Suite in the Occasions catalog I knew I wanted it all.  Both of my son-in-laws are into cars so I knew they would be the perfect products to make all kinds of cards for them.  This is probably one of the sets I will keep until the day I do not stamp any longer!!

This is also one of the cards that everyone will be making at Make-It-Monday.  It is also a request, as Angie wanted to make a card with this set . . . so here it is.

Country Floral Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

I love when stampers send me pictures of cards they would like to make.  Sandi sent this one and I absolutely love it.  There was a similar card in the Sale-a-Bration brochure that used this technique.

I thought at first that the images would be a little difficult to color but it was way easier than I thought!!

Ink: Early Espresso
Stampin' Blends:  Daffodil Delight Light, Mossy Meadow Light,

Painted Seasons

One of the techniques (well . . . not really a technique) we have been doing lately at Technique/Stamp Club has been a fun fold.   I made a card with this fold with Susie last weekend and decided I wanted to share it with club members on Thursday.

I used the same color palette and part of the one sheet wonder for this card.

You can see here how this card opens on each side.  A fun fun card!!f

Stamps: Painted Seasons, All adorned
Cardstock: Night of Navy, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Neutrals 6" X 6"
Ink: Berry Burst, Granny Apple Green, Night of Navy
Accessories:  Versamark, White Embossing Powder,
Heat Tool, Story label Punch, Basic Pearl Jewels,
5/8" Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon,
Stampin' Dimensionals

Wow . . . has this been a mixed up day!!  I was sitting with my first cup of coffee about 7:15 this morning and I got a text from my niece wondering if I was coming to the bridal shower for my other niece today.  I told her I knew nothing about it . . . there had been some mix up with people getting invitations.  So I quick got ready and took off for Adel to arrive in time for the shower at 10:00.  Good thing I have plenty of cards laying around . . . and cash is always good as a gift.  The bonus was I got to see Hanna and Jake's new house after the shower and took Jake to lunch.  Hanna is in California for a few days with Jake's mom and dad.

I got home about 3:30 . . . and am planning on doing nothing the rest of the day.  I am glad I had nothing planned for the day and could make it all work!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!
