Words of Cheer

Today I have used the traditional Christmas colors of Real Red and Old Olive together with the Words of Cheer stamp set to make this card to share with you.  It is also one that everyone made last night at Make-It-Monday.

There is quite a bit of coloring on this card but it goes fairly quickly. And I think it is definitely worth it.  One thing I always tell my stampers is to stamp the image in Memento Black and then to die cut it before you color it.  That way if for some reason the die slips and doesn't cut it out right, you will not have wasted all of that time on the perfect coloring job.

Stamps: Words of Cheer
Cardstock: Real Red, Old Olive, Basic White
Ink: Memento Black
Stampin' Blends:  Cherry Cobbler Combo pack, Old Olive Combo Pack
Accessories:  Stampin' Dimensionals

Today I have to do one of my least favorite things . . . go to the dentist . . . but I get to pair it with one of my favorite things.  Because I will already be in the University Hospital because of an appointment, I get to deliver my yearly thank you gift to the staff in the SICU.  I have been doing this for fifteen years and am so glad I get to do it in person this year.

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Snowflake Wishes

Today I have used the Snowflake Wishes and the Watercolor Shapes stamp sets to make this card to share with you.  Once again the snow can stay on my cards and not on the ground.

The Night of Navy clear embossed sentiment was achieved by first inking the stamp with Versamark and then immediately inking it with Night of Navy and applying Clear Embossing Powder and heat-setting it.  Sometimes regular ink will smudge on Vellum but this way you can achieve whatever color you would like.

Stamps: Snowflake Wishes, Watercolor Shapes
Cardstock: Balmy Blue, Night of Navy, Basic White, Vellum
Ink: Balmy Blue, Night of Navy
Accessories:  Versamark, Basics Embossing Powder,
Heat Tool,
Rhinestone Basic Jewels

John and I were out the door before 7:00 so that he could get labs done before his early morning doctor appointment.  I have a feeling we will be doing this for several appointments and hopefully his legs will totally heal.

Evergreen Elegance

Today I have an Evergreen Elegance Christmas card to share with you.  I am sure I saw this card online somewhere when I was scrolling but have no idea where or who to give credit to!

I started this card by stamping the tallest evergreen tree and then added the other Evening Evergreen tree.  I filled in with the smaller Soft Succulent trees wherever I thought it needed something else.  The Holiday Rhinestones totally remind me of Christmas lights.

Stamps: Evergreen Elegance
Cardstock: Evening Evergreen, Basic White
Designer Series Paper: Tidings of Christmas
Ink: Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent
Accessories:  Evening Evergreen 3/8" Chevron Weave Ribbon,
Holiday Rhinestones, Mini Glue Dots,
Stampin' Dimensionals

As soon as I am done posting this I am out the door to pick up all of my On-Line Thanksgiving Day shopping at Target.  Many of the things I wanted could not be delivered so I have to do curbside pick-up.  This afternoon I am planning on finishing up getting everything ready for the postponed Make-It-Monday tomorrow night and also tomorrow's Cards in the Mail packets.

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Classic Cloche

Today I have used the Classic Cloche stamp set and dies to make a card to share with you.  This was definitely not one of the sets on my radar when I first saw it last summer, but the more things I saw made with it the more I liked it. (As usually happens)

The snow scene reminds me of a Hallmark movie or an old-fashioned Christmas card.  The blue buildings were surprisingly easy to line up with the black outlines of the buildings.  Yay!!!  for photopolymer stamps!!!

Stamps: Classic Cloche
Cardstock: Basic White Thick, Balmy Blue,
Ink: Memento Black, Balmy Blue,
Accessories:  Cloche Dies, Eveertgreen 3D Embossing Folder,
Baker's Twine Essentials Pack, Matte Black Dots, Wink of Stella,
Stampin' Dimensionals

As soon as I am done posting this I am out the door for my first craft show in over two years.  You can clearly tell I have two years' worth of crafting and making things by the amount of stuff I carried into the building.  I sure hope I am not carrying as much stuff out of the building.

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Color & Contour

Today I have used the gorgeous Simply Elegant Designer Series Paper to make this card to share with you.  Sometimes we get so wrapped up in what is in the Mini Catalogs, that we forget about the beautiful products in the Annual Catalog and Idea Book.  This Simply Elegant Designer Series Paper is simply that . . . elegant.

There would have been a day when I would never have mixed my metallic colors, but the combination in this paper works really well.  And black is the perfect complementary color to make it really pop.  The Scallop Contour Dies are my go-to dies since so many of the layering dies retired last June.

Stamps: Color & Contour
Cardstock: Basic White Thick, Basic Black, Basic White
Designer Series Paper: Simply Elegant
Ink: Memento Black
Accessories:  Tailor Made Tags Dies, Scalloped Contour Dies,
Black 3/8" Glittered Organdy Ribbon, Simply Elegant Trim, Metallic Pearls,

Yesterday was a fantastic Thanksgiving spent with family.  One of my favorite things was to see how the kids wanted to help Jake in the kitchen.

I was amazed at how well they could both use the potato peeler.  I am not sure I have mastered that yet.

Her gravy was excellent . . . I think the secret ingredient was the constant stirring!!

Pretty Pumpkins

I used the Pretty Pumpkins stamp set to make this Thanksgiving card to share with you today.  How blessed we are to be able to gather together this year for Thanksgiving!!

I saw this card using non-traditional fall colors and it really popped out at me the moment I saw it.  I think it was probably the words that first drew my attention, but the more I looked at it the more I liked it.  The two strips on either side of the designer series paper is just a 1-inch piece of Sahara Sand torn in half.  I used to do that all of the time but haven't used torn paper for quite a while.

Stamps: Pretty Pumpkins
Cardstock: Sahara Sand, Basic White
Designer Series Paper: Harvest Meadow
Ink:  Pool Party, Sahara Sand
Accessories:  Detailed Pumpkins Dies, Banners Pick a Punch,
Linen Thread, Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots, Mini Glue Dots,
Stampin' Dimensionals

I want to wish each and every one of you a Happy Thanksgiving.  I am indeed thankful, grateful, and blessed to have each and every one of you in my life and happy that we can share a love of stamping.

As soon as I am done posting this John and I are headed out the door to go to Adel to spend Thanksgiving with Julie and Jason and Hanna and Jake.  I am so anxious to see the kids today and see what they think of their first Thanksgiving!!

Inspired Thoughts

I used the Inspiring Thoughts Bundle to make this card to share with you today.  In looking at it now, I really should have used a shade of red cardstock for the bird so he could be a cardinal, but I did want it to match my card base.

Even though I have had them for a while this was my first time using the Inspiring Canopy Dies.  They die cut so smoothly and easily.  I was quite surprised and impressed.  I have a feeling they will be used more often now that I know how easy they are to use.  Sympathy cards are one type of card that I have to have on hand because I can never make one when I need it.  Unfortunately, it is one card we all need so I like to have a stockpile.

Stamps: Inspired Thoughts
Cardstock: Misty Moonlight, Basic White
Ink: Misty Moonlight
Accessories:  Beautiful Trees Dies, Inspiring Canopy Dies,
Stitched Rectangle Dies, Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder,

Yesterday's day of rest did not end up being a day of rest . . . I feel like I was on the go all day long . . . between my appointment, getting the Christmas decorations out of the basement, running to Iowa City to get some craft show supplies, and being in constant communication with the doctor about John's legs.  They are okay, just very uncomfortable for him.  Today looks to be more of the same, although I think I can actually stay at home and be busy without leaving my house.  After they come and fix my dryer vent, which we discovered yesterday had come unhooked, I need to put everything back over the basement landing so my kitchen is not a maze to get through.  Hopefully, by late afternoon, my recliner and I will become reacquainted.

Love of Leaves

Today I have used the designer series paper, Beauty of the Earth, and the Love of Leaves stamp set to create this friendship card to share with you.

I started with a larger than normal card base . . . 11" X 5.5" and scored it so that it is a fun fold card.  I only put dimensionals on the right-hand side of the layered sentiment piece so that the left-hand flap can tuck under it and keep the card closed.

The Timber 3D Embossing Folder is the perfect folder for this card as it carries the "woodsy" feel throughout the whole card.  Yes . . . this card uses more than the usual amount of cardstock, but I sure do think it is worth it!!

Stamps: Love of Leaves
Cardstock: Mossy Meadow, Cajun Craze, Basic White
Designer Series Paper: Beauty of the Earth
Ink: Cajun Craze
Accessories:  Stitched Leaves Dies, Hippo & Friends Dies,
Timber 3D Embossing Folder, Baker's Twine Essentials Pack,
Mini Glue Dots,
Stampin' Dimensionals

Life is all about the unexpected . . . there was no post yesterday as I had to take John to an unexpected doctor's appointment for his legs and it ended up taking most of the day.  The good news is that since we acted early we only had to make one trip to the doctor this week as they could get everything done yesterday and that while it will take a while to clear up the problem, we averted anything worse or nasty.  I was fully expecting them to admit him to the hospital when we headed to Iowa City, but luckily that was not the case.

I hope today is going to be a day of rest after an early morning salon appointment. . . and the gal that cleans for me is going to help me get our Christmas decorations out of the basement.  I always look forward to putting out the decorations for the year!!

Eden's Garden

Today I have used my favorite designer series paper to create a card to share with you.  I guess you would have to say that I am loving any of the new specialty papers that have that touch of bling right in the paper.

Everybody has those friends that they just need to check in on every now and then and this would be the perfect card to do that.  It is also great to use up some of the smaller pieces or strips of designer paper that we all seem to accumulate!!

Stamps: Eden's Garden
Cardstock: Blackberry Bliss, Very Vanilla
Designer Series Paper: Blackberry Beauty
Ink: Blackberry Bliss
Accessories:  Banners Pick a Punch, Gold 3/8" Shimmer Ribbon,
Gilded Gems, Mini Glue Dots,
Stampin' Dimensionals

Today I am getting ready to spend the afternoon with some friends just stamping and laughing.  It is so good for the soul to spend doing just that.

Cardstock cutting is in my future for this morning for the two classes that I have going tomorrow.  We will see how much I get done before leaving for my afternoon of stamping.

Eden's Garden

I used the Eden's Garden sneak peek stamp set to create a fun fold card to share with you today.

I believe I saw this card on Pinterest and loved how they dry embossed the Ever Eden Cotton Paper.  The embossing definitely shows up better in person than it does in the photo.

This fun fold card opens first to the right and then the side panel opens to the left like a regular card.  I love that it showcases a couple of the patterns of designer series paper in the Ever Eden pack.  And of course, the bling of the Gilded Gems coordinates perfectly with the gold flecks in the paper.

Stamps: Eden's Garden
Cardstock: Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent, Basic White
Designer Series Paper: Ever Eden, Ever Eden Cotton
Accessories:  Merry Moments Embossing Folders, Versamark,

Yesterday was a great day of shopping the Rural Road Trip.  Between my friend and I, we managed to fill the back seat of my car with our finds!!  The one thing I really wanted to buy and I did get was my outdoor arrangements and wreaths for the doors.

Today is going to be a football, cardstock cutting and sorting kind of day.  Go Hawks!!

Eden's Garden

I used the sneak peek suite, Eden's Garden to create this card to share with you and that was in a Cards in the Mail packet a couple of weeks ago.

Once again a pretty simple layout where the designer series paper does most of the work for you.  I think that is one of the things I love most about the Cards in the Mail packets.  They are so easy to make!!

Stamps: Eden's Garden
Cardstock: Evening Evergreen, Basic White, Gold Foil
Designer Series Paper: Ever Eden
Ink: Evening Evergreen
Accessories:  Eden Dies, Tasteful Labels Dies, Baker's Twine Essentials Pack,
Sponge Daubers, Mini Glue Dots,
Stampin' Dimensionals,

As soon as I am done posting this I am out the door for a fun day of shopping with a friend on the Rural Road Trip that is in my area.  It is a collection of small boutiques and shops that come together to host a special holiday shopping day.  Whether I buy anything or not, it is always a fun day.

Snowbody Better

I used the Snowbody Better stamp set to create these cute decorator tiles to share with you and for my upcoming craft shows.  What could be more fun than a Hawkeye snow family!!

I made some similar tiles a month or so ago at a couple of events that I attended that my friend, Susie, hosted.  Right away when I saw them I knew they would be perfect for Hawkeye Snowbodies!!  I stamped them up yesterday and then spent the evening in my recliner coloring several of them!!

Although it pained me to do it, I do have some Cyclone friends, so I also colored some in the Cyclone colors.

These tiles are great for a decor piece, but I did not put any sealer on them as it distorted the colors.  Therefore they can't be used as a coaster.  And I mean, after all, who would want to cover up these cute snowmen!!!

Stamps: Snowbody Better
Ink:  Memento Black
Stampin' Blends:  Real Red Dark, Shaded Spruce Dark, Pumpkin Pie Dark,
Daffodil Delight Dark, Cherry Cobbler Dark,
Gray Granite Light

Today is going to be another busy day . . . I have a hair appointment this morning with a couple of other errands to run and then this afternoon I have a couple of gals coming to stamp the Christmas Stamp a Stack cards.  Tonight while watching Hawkeye basketball I am planning on sorting and filling out my card racks for upcoming craft shows.

Eden's Garden

I used the sneak peek set, Eden's Garden, to create a card to share with you today.  I am totally in love with this designer series paper!!

I do believe this is a layout that I am going to put into my layout folder.  As I was making this card, all sorts of possibilities came to mind.  It does have several layers, but there is no need for added postage.

I started by choosing my designer series paper and then stamping my image on the Layering Circle with Evening Evergreen ink.  The sentiment is embossed with white embossing powder on an Evening Evergreen shape die cut with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.  I debated between using this ribbon and the Open Weave Evening Evergreen ribbon and decided that I liked the solid look the best.

Stamps: Eden's Garden
Cardstock: Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen, Basic White
Designer Series Paper: Ever Eden
Ink:  Evening Evergreen
Accessories:  Stitched So Sweetly Dies, Layering Circles Dies,
Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder, Veramark, Basics Embossing Powders,

After some technical difficulties yesterday with a laptop that would not charge and an impromptu trip to the Apple Store at Jordan Creek Mall in Des Moines I am the proud owner of a new rose gold colored laptop.  It took a little longer than I would have liked to migrate all of my files from my old laptop to the new one, but I chose to look at it as an adventure in patience.  While I was waiting I had some great conversations with four of the other people that were waiting on the same thing.  How lucky I am that I had the time to be able to do that and not be super frustrated that it was taking so long.  Hopefully, some of the other shoppers will choose to look through their own rose-colored glasses when life gives you some delays.

Wonderful Snowflakes

I used the Wonderful Snowflakes and the Whimsy & Wonder Designer Series Paper to make a card to share with you today.  I have to say I think these snowflakes might be my favorite accessory in the August-December Mini Catalog.

This is a funky fold card that leaves little room for writing your message on the inside.  Sometimes that is okay . . .

Cardstock: Basic White Thick, Smoky Slate, Blushing Bride, Basic White
Designer Series Paper: Whimsy & Wonder
Accessories: Layering Circles Dies, Wonderful Snowflakes,
Stampin' Dimensionals

Today I will be a cardstock cutting machine again as I have several upcoming classes and events that need to be cut for.  I am also wrapping up the Peaceful Cabin Framed Art classes later on today as well.  I think it will be another day that will be good to be inside where it is nice and toasty!!

Eden's Garden

I used the sneak peek Eden's Garden to create this Cards in the Mail card a couple of weeks ago.  I must say that I am in love with this designer series paper.

And speaking of this paper, if you like it as much as I do you will want to get some right away.  The stamp set and dies will be in the new January-June 2022 Mini Catalog but the designer series paper will not.  It is available only while supplies last. It is certainly easy to whip up an awesome card when the paper does all of the work for you!!

Stamps: Eden's Garden

Today is going to be a great day to stay home and wrap up in a blanket and finish my book for Virtual Family Book Club night tomorrow night.    A cup of tea, a book, and a blanket . . . what could be better.

Encircled in Warmth

I've got another great card made with the Wonderful Snowflakes and Encircled in Warmth stamp set for you today.  I don't know about you but after yesterday I could stand to be encircled in warmth . . . boy was it chilly yesterday.

To make the snowflake blue, I simply turned it over and used my blending brushes to color it.  It doesn't show up in the photo but the color did not go on perfectly evenly, and I tried and tried to get it even but then decided I kind of liked it the way it was.  So each colored snowflake is unique . . . kind of like actual snowflakes.  I did try to color the shimmery side of the snowflake and that did not work at all as the ink would not stick to the paper.

Stamps: Encircled With Warmth
Cardstock: Balmy Blue, Basic White
Ink: Balmy Blue
Accessories:  Blending Brushes, Wonderful Snowflakes,
Basic Rhinestone Jewels,
Stampin' Dimensionals

I had a great day yesterday at the Stampin' Up! Onstage@Home event.  I usually get together with some other gals to watch it but that did not work out this year so it was just me, myself, and I watching from my kitchen table.  I did manage to get a lot of craft show projects done while I was watching so that was great.  I can't wait for you all to see the new January-June 2022 Mini Catalog and the Sale-a-Bration Brochure.  They are good ones!!

Today is another day of watching OnStage@Home virtually, but of course, once the Hawks start playing football, I will be multitasking that way instead of stamping and watching the show.

Sparkle of the Season

I used the Sparkle of the Season stamp set to create this Cards in the Mail card for you.

I have absolutely loved the Wonderful Snowflakes and have used them in many many cards this season.  No, I am not ready for snow but they make an excellent accent.

Stamps: Sparkle of the Season
Cardstock: Blushing Bride, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Whimsy & Wonder
Ink: Blushing Bride Ink
Accessories:  Stitched Rectangle Dies, Stitched Snowflake Dies,
Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder, Wonderful Snowflakes,
Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Mini Glue Dots,
Stampin' Dimensionals

Today I will be parked in front of my laptop watching the stampin' convention online.  I will be so happy when we can go back to in-person large stampin' events like OnStage.  I hope to set myself up with some stamping in front of me so I can do both things at once.

Heartfelt Wishes

I used the Heartfelt Wishes and the Peaceful Place Designer Series Paper to create this card to share with you today.

This is one of the designs in the paper pack, strategically cut to get you three cards from one of the pieces of paper. The remaining paper has the starry sky design so you can certainly make some cool cards with what is leftover.  Because the paper has a metallically look to it I embossed the sentiment with silver embossing powder and of course, all cards need some bling.  This is one of the cards in this week's Christmas cards in the mail.

Stamps: Heartfelt Wishes
Cardstock: Basic Gray, Basic White (Inside)
Designer Series Paper: Peaceful Place, Silver Foil Specialty
Accessories:  Versamrk, Metallics Embossing Powder, Heat Tool,
Basic Rhinestone Jewels

I took a break from actually stamping yesterday.  My thought was to cuddle up with a blanket and read, but that did not happen.  The longer I sat there the more I realized that I had not done any of my stampin' bookwork for quite a while so I started in on that.  I got through the month of September and a little into October.  I hope to get that all finished up today.

Encircled in Warmth

Today I used the Encircled in Warmth stamp set to create a Christmas card to share with you.  You can find this stamp set in the August-December 2021 Mini Catalog.  It is also one of this week's Christmas Cards in the Mail.

I wanted to feature some more of the Peaceful Places Designer Series Paper and what coordinates with it better than silver embossing and Basic Rhinestone jewels.  The Wintry 3D embossed strip of white adds to the overall snow effect.

Delicate Baubles

This year since I did not do my big in-person Christmas card class I decided to throw in some Cards in the Mail Christmas card classes.

The Delicate Baubles die set is one die set that I completely overlooked in the catalog as I wasn't that taken with the coordinating stamp set.  Boy am I ever glad that I gave it a second look.  It makes absolutely beautiful cards when paired with the red foil.  The white outside layer is popped up on some dimensionals and the bauble is nested in the opening and adhered right to the red foil to give the card some dimension.

Cardstock: Basic White Thick, Red Foil, Basic White
Accessories: Delicate Baubles Dies, White 3/8" Glittered Organdy Ribbon,
Stampin' Dimensionals

Today is going to be busy gathering up supplies and getting everything ready for Make-It-Monday tonight since we were gone all day yesterday.  We had a great time on our trip along the Mississippi River.  I got some shopping done, we had great food, but most importantly just spent time together with Julie and Jason.

Nature's Harvest

Everbody needs thank you cards at some point and this is a super simple card to make.

Once again the designer series paper does a lot of the work.  I certainly can't get enough of it!!  The added detail of the dry emboss layer adds a lot to the dimension of the card.  It makes a perfect Cards in the Mail card.

Snowflake Wishes

Last night I did a Christmas card class with a women's group at a church in Iowa City.  I have posted this card before and it was one of the ones that the ladies made.

It uses the Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper that is a retired Sale-a-Bration product.  But one which I dearly loved.

One of the first things they ask me was if they had to make their cards exactly like mine and of course my answer was absolutely not.  That is the beauty of cardmaking . . . you can make it your own.  Here are a couple that they made.

Stamps: Snowflake Wishes
Cardstock: Real Red, Basic White

We had a great big room for our cardmaking which made social distancing very easy.

We discovered what a small world it really is as several of the women had had John as an art teacher and I had one of the gal's husband as a first grader.

It was a late night out for me but oh so fun!!
