Awesome Otters

Today is the last day of Sale-a-Bration and what better stamp to show off than the Sale-a-Bration stamp set, Awesome Otters.  This is one stamp set that will probably stay in my stash so that I can make cards for the kids.

Once again I have used the backside of the Heart & Home Doilies so that I have a white doily.  The Give It A Whirl Dies are great for so much more than just the whirling cards.  I love the look of the scallop circle in this set.  The birthday hat is cut out with my paper snips.

What a beautiful day it is when the sun is shining.  I am loving the look of the sun today and am looking forward to the warmer temperatures all week long!!  I usually hate the month of February because it seems to drag on and on but this year it seems like it just flew by!!  Hard to believe March starts tomorrow!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Happy Stamping!!

Best Delivery

Today I used the stamp set, Best Delivery, to make this card to share with you.  I sent one like this to my niece for her birthday and thought it was perfect because they have moved a couple of times in the last year.  I hope their moves were speedier than I was at getting this card to her!!

You will notice that the cargo area of the truck is polka dot.  That is not part of the stamp, but rather a piece of designer series paper that I have colored the same color and then adhered to the truck.  It just gives the truck a little more interest.

Stamps: Best Delivery

Designer Series Paper: Pattern Party
Ink: Memento Black, Coastal Cabana, Smoky Slate

Yesterday's shopping trip ended up being quite the exclusion.  I left home at 7:15 and did not get back home until after 6:30 in the evening.  But a good time was had and I got several cool new projects to stitch while I am sitting in my recliner!!

Today I will be cutting cardstock and getting ready for Make-It-Monday tomorrow night!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Encircled In Friendship

Today I have used the Encircled in Friendship stamp set and the Daffodil Afternoon Designer Series Paper to create this card to share with you.

The Heart & Home Doilies come in blue, brown, and gray but the backside of all of them is white.  That is what I have used on this daffodil card.  Once again a simple card for Simple Saturday!!  I must say I am going to be very sad come Monday when this paper is no longer current!!

Stamps: Encircled in Friendship
Cardstock: Pear Pizzazz, Very Vanilla
Designer Series Paper: Daffodil Afternoon
Ink: Mossy Meadow
Accessories:  Stitched Triangle Dies, Heart & Home Doilies,

As soon as I am done posting this I am headed out the door to meet a friend in Iowa City for a shopping road trip.  We are headed to a stitching store a couple of hours away.  I want to get stocked up for when I will be doing more sitting after my knee surgery.

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Awesome Otters

Today I have used the sentiment from the Sale-a-Bration stamp set, Awesome Otters, and the Simply Marbleous to create this card to share with you.  I think that paper makes the perfect ice cream cone dip!!

It does not show up in the photo well at all but I have also used the Gingham Embossing Folder to emboss the Cinnamon Cider cone.  It gives it enough of a texture that it looks like a waffle cone.  I have also colored some of the Basic Pearl Jewels with my Cinnamon Cider Stampin' Blend Dark to make some chocolate sprinkles.  I could have used the Frosted Bead Assortment but I was afraid they would not stay on the cone.  This is one of the Cards in the Mail in this week's packet.

Stamps: Awesome Otters
Cardstock: Pool Party, Cinnamon Cider, Bermuda Bay, Basic White
Designer Series Paper: Simply Marbelous
Ink: Memento Black
Stampin' Blends:  Cinnamon Cider Combo Pack

As I woke up to a white-covered ground again today, my first thought was that I hope this is the last snow of the season!!  And this is the first time I have actually been home when we had any significant snow, so I guess I should consider myself lucky!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Honeybee Home

Today I am sharing a card that I saw on a site I follow, Flowerbug's Inkspot.  I was initially drawn to this card because of the color combination . . . black and yellow . . . but the more I looked at it the more I knew it would be perfect for a Cards in the Mail card.

Although it does not show up in the photo well, I took a Blending Brush and some Crushed Curry ink and shaded the white cardstock around the cutout circle a little bit as well as the edges of the sentiment piece.  Flowerbug had made one of these cards in each of the shades in the paper pack, Simply Marbelous, and they were all pretty, but this one was my favorite.

Stamps: Honeybee Home
Cardstock: Basic White Thick, Crushed Curry, Basic White
Designer Series Paper: Simply Marbelous
Ink: Memento Black, Crushed Curry
Accessories:  Layering Circles Dies. Honeybee Blooms Dies,

Flowering Tulips

Today I have used the stamp set, Flowering Tulips, and the coordinating designer series paper, Flowering Fields, to make this birthday card to share with you.

I cannot get enough of the pastel purple pattern in this designer series paper.  I think of all the patterns in the pack this one is my favorite.  This card was made with some scrap strips that I happened to have laying on my table.  I debated about which embossing folder to use and decided to use one of the new ones in the Spring Mini Catalog.  I did do the stamping before I embossed the white cardstock.  Add an embellishment and you have a perfect card for your purple-loving friends.

Stamps: Flowering Tulips
Cardstock: Highland Heather, Basic White
Designer Series Paper: Flowering Fields
Ink: Highland Heather
Accessories:  Gingham Embossing Folder, Pastel Pearls

As soon as I am done posting this John and I are out the door for our last doctor's appointment for a while . . . .maybe even two weeks!!  I hope to get a lot of stamping done when we get home.

Special Moments

Today I have used two Sale-a-Bration items . . . the stamp set, Special Moments, and the designer series paper, Daffodil Afternoon.  These items are both FREE for a few more days with a qualifying order.  This is a card that I found on a site I follow . . . .Stampin' With Tracy.  Can I just say that I love this daffodil paper!!

With some strategic cutting, you can get six cards from the one sheet of daffodils and you have quite a bit of the backside of the paper to use in another project.  Once again the paper does most of the work for you.  There are several patterns in this packet of paper that would work great for this layout.  What can you come up with??

Stamps: Special Moments
Cardstock: Very Vanilla Thick, Basic Black, Very Vanilla

Sentimental Swirls

Today I have used the Sentimental Swirls and lots of Stampin' Blends to make this card to share with you.  This is a card that I made last January at the retreat we attended put on by the Stampin' Sisters in Wisconsin.  It is also a card that everyone made at Make-It-Monday last week.

This is one of the stamp sets that I bypassed in the catalog until I saw several cards made with it.  These flowers are easily punched out with the Flowers & Leaves Punch that is in the Annual Idea Book & Catalog.

Stamps: Sentimental Swirls
Cardstock: Melon Mambo, Basic Black, Basic White

Today brings another doctor's appointment this afternoon.  I did my stamping early this morning as my day started at 5:30 for some reason.  I am sure I will be needing a nap when we get home from the doctor's appointments.

Whiskey Business

Today I have used the stamp set, Whiskey Business, to create this card to share with you.  It is one I have had in mind since our trip to the Citrus Bowl back on the first of January, and one I have just gotten around to making for one of my brother's birthdays which was the middle of January.  I am notoriously slow with birthday cards!!

The In Good Taste Designer Series Paper was perfect for the look I was trying to achieve.  We don't have a lot of papers for masculine cards but this package has quite a few.  I achieved the glassy look on the decanter by covering it with the glue from the Fine-Tip Glue Pen.  I put on a pretty heavy layer of the glue and it dried clear.  I did use a retired Stampin' Blend, Mango Melody because it gave me the color amber that I was looking for.

Stamps: Whiskey Business
Cardstock: Cinnamon Cider, Very Vanilla
Designer Series Paper: In Good taste
Ink: Memento Black
Stampin' Blends: Mango Melody Combo Pack (Retired), Cinnamon Cider Combo Pack, Pumpkin Pie Combo Pack
Accessories:  Fine Tip Glue Pen,
Stampin' Dimensionals

Our trip to Adel yesterday was a lot of fun.  We visited, ate lunch at the Mexican restaurant in town, opened birthday and belated Christmas presents, and generally had a great time.  It is amazing to see how the kids have grown since they came home in August.  Johan read a book to me in English and we listened to him play a couple of songs on the keyboard he got for Christmas.  They are really settling in well.

Slim Sayings

Have you seen the Slim Sayings stamp set yet?  Today I have used it as well as the FREE Sale-a-Bration Designer Series Paper, Simply Marbleous to make this card to share with you.

This is one of the simpler cards I have made in recent years.  But sometimes simple is good and easy!!  The Simply Marbelous Designer Series Paper is exactly what it says . . . simply marvelous.  The colors are so rich and bright, it makes card making easy.

John and I successfully navigated our driver's license appointments yesterday and my passport renewal picture was taken and all of the paperwork for that ready to go in the mail.  Not sure where I am going to go but I decided it was easier to renew it than get a new one later on.

Today I plan on working in my stamp room boxing up all of my scraps to take to Adel with me tomorrow to give to my friend, Jeanie.  She can make the most marvelous cards with the tiniest scrap of paper!!!

Calming Camilla

Today I have used one of my favorite colors, Gorgeous Grape, and the FREE Sale-a-Bration stamp set, Calming Camilla, as well as the FREE Designer Series Paper, Simply Marbleous to make this card to share with you.

I used the Stamparatus when stamping the Calming Camilla flower.  I wanted a really deep, bold purple and the Stamparatus allowed me to ink up the stamp three times and have perfect placement of the stamp.  I saw this card somewhere on line but have no idea where or who made the original.

Friendly Hello

Today I am using the Sale-a-Bration Stamp set, Friendly Hello, to make this card to share with you.  I have used this stamp set a lot but had never used the bird before.  I think it was a hit at Make-It-Monday . . . simple but cool.

The Encircled in Beauty die cut was a perfect size and shape for layering this card.  Like I told someone Monday night, this is a die set that needs to see more love as it has really cool circle cut dies.  It could definitely take the place of the simpler Layering Circles Dies and add a touch of fancy to the card.

Stamps: Friendly Hello, Flowing Flowers

Designer Series Paper: Simply Marbleous
Ink: Memento Black
Stampin' Blends:  Flirty Flamingo Combo Pack, Pool Party Combo Pack

Today starts a week of Doctor-Go-Round again as John has an eye appointment.  It is in the afternoon which means that they have a lot of time to get behind!!  Good thing I always have a book on my phone with me to pass the time!!  Hopefully, I can get a little stamping done before and after the appointment.

Love & Happiness

What says Valentine's Day more than Love & Happiness??  I love the name of this stamp set that we used to make this card at an event that my friend, Susie hosted.  I believe this was one of her shoebox swap cards.

If you have not tried this Bouquet of Love Hybrid Embossing Folder you need to do so soon.  It embosses and cuts in one smooth step.  What could be better than that!!  It is also a paper saver because the heart cuts right out of the center so that you can cover up the heart hole with another layer and then use the heart on top of that.  What a genius idea!!

Stamps:  Love & Happiness
Cardstock: Basic Gray, Smoky Slate, Basic White
Designer Series Paper: Heart & Home
Ink: Basic Gray
Accessories:  Bouquet of Love Hybrid Embossing Folder, Pearl Basic Jewels,
Simply Elegant Trim, Heart & Home Doilies, Wink of Stella,

Everything is ready and sitting by the back door waiting to be loaded into the vehicle for Make-it-Monday tonight.  Things went together very smoothly yesterday and my plan for getting things ready and still being able to watch the Hawks play basketball and then watch the Super Bowl worked to perfection.  I could work on other things today before leaving for Make-It-Monday, but since I will be on my feet quite a bit tonight I think I will give my knee rest for the rest of the day!!

Here Together

Today I have a card I made at my friend, Susie's, a couple of weekends ago at a stamping demo day.  The minute I saw this card I knew it would be a perfect Valentine for Hanna and Jake and their family!!  This stamp set and paper is from a new product suite that Stampin' Up! released on the first of February.  The suite features a stamp set, dies, paper, and new colors of Stampin' Blends.  Only the Blends will be available in the new Stampin' Up! catalog when it is released.

The focal point is actually a piece of the designer series paper that I colored with various colors of Blends.  I was going to cut one of the hands off since Hanna and Jake have a family of six but then decided to leave it and it could represent the hand of God who is with them always and certainly during their adoption journey.  It is probably an unconventional Valentine's card, but one that is perfect for them.

Stamps: Here Together
Cardstock: Basic Black, Basic White
Designer Series Paper: All Together
Ink: Memento Black
Stampin' Blends:  Light Combo Pack, Medium Light Combo Pack,

Today is going to be another stamping, basketball, and football kind of day.  I got a lot done on my swap yesterday and if all goes according to plan I would like to get them done today!!

Awesome Otters

Today I have four Valentine's Day cards to share with you.  They are the four valentines that were in the box I mailed off to the grandchildren the other day.  Since the box is supposed to be delivered later today I think I am safe in posting them now.

I used the Awesome Otters set and the Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper to make all four of them.  I had some leftover punched hearts from the Valentine in the Mail card class so decided this would be a good use for them.  If the card says You Are Otterly Awesome on the outside, then it says Happy Valentine's Day on the inside, and the reverse is true . . . if it says Happy Valentine's Day on the outside it says You Are Otterly Awesome on the inside.  I also made sure that they all had the same amount of Iridescent Rhinestones on the outside.  Not that things had to be exactly the same but I do remember from my teaching days that kids notice things like that!!  Since this will be their first Valentine's day here, I hope they like them and enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making the cards for them.

Stamps:  Otterly Awesome, Sweet Conversations
Cardstock: Highland Heather, Real Red, Gorgeous Grape,
Basic Black, Basic White
Designer Series Paper: Sweet Talk
Ink: Memento Black, Highland Heather
Stampin' Blends:  Crumb Cake Combo Pack, Ivory & Bronze Combo Pack,

Basketball and cards are on the agenda for today.  I hope to get enough things die-cut for my swaps for the weekend retreat coming up the first weekend in March so that I might put them together while watching other Big Ten teams play today!!

Flowering Tulips

Today I have used the awesome sentiment from the Flowering Tulips stamp set and the FREE Daffodil Afternoon Designer Series Paper to make this card to share with you.

There are so many cool patterns in this designer series paper that it was difficult to choose which two I thought would look best together on the card.  I wanted to use the yellow pattern as the second layer but it was on the backside of the flowered one I wanted to use so settled for the polka dot pattern.  Depending on which flowers show up in the piece of flowered paper you are using there is a little more of that color.  A sentiment, an embellishment and you are good to go.  Just think of all the birthday cards you could make in a short period of time with this layout!!

As I sit here listening to the wind whistle around the house I am thinking that I am glad I don't have to be anywhere today.  Even though I know the temperatures are warmer there is something about the wind that makes me cold.  I guess the only thing to do today is to craft the day away.  I have no shortage of projects!!

Flowering Tulips

Today I have again used the Flowering Tulips and a different color pallet of the Flowering Fields Designer Series Paper.  Tulips come in all colors and this paper definitely showcases that.

The great thing about the Cards in the Mail cards is that they are very easy to make and the designer series paper does most of the work.  I know I have said that before but it is oh so true.  I have sponged around the edge of the sentiment circle to try and bring out some of the green in the leaves of the tulips.  Who else can't wait until the real tulips are in bloom?

Stamps:  Flowering Tulips

Another gray day . . . but the good news is that it is not snowing or icky!!  Today I am planning on making all of my Valentine's Cards.  I know . . . it's kind of late to be making them but if I can get them in the mail this afternoon, they should reach their destinations by Monday!!

Awesome Otters

Today I have used the FREE Sale-a-Bration stamp set, Awesome Otters, to make this card to share with you.  I think these otters are just stinkin' cute, don't you?

I love layering tags so that there is more color to them.  This one was very easy to do . . . I just cut an extra Basic Black and Bermuda Bay tag and then cut them in half horizontally.  Then it was just a matter of layering them until I got the look I was hoping for.  The Blending Brushes were perfect for brushing on some of the Bermuda Bay color to make it look like the otter was in the water.

It was great to get out yesterday in the warmth and sunshine, but my knee has let me know that today needs to be a day to stay at home.  That is okay because I have several stamping projects that I need to finish up and many of them can be done from the comfort of my chair or at least from the kitchen table with very little walking required!!!

Driving By

Today I have used the FREE Sale-a-Bration stamp set, Driving By, and the FREE Designer Series Paper, Sunshine and Rainbows, to create this card to share with you.  This is a card I made a few weeks back with the Stampin' Sisters in Wisconsin.  That was a great weekend with so many cool ideas!!

The Sunshine and Rainbows paper has so many colors you can pick up when coloring the car and presents.  The car totally reminds me of a game I used to play with my brothers when on vacation . . . Slug Bug.  I always had sore arms because they were so much quicker at spying bug cars than I was!!

Friendly Hello

Today I have used the Friendly Hello stamp set and coordinating paper to make this card to share with you.  This is a card that I made last week at a demo event that my friend, Susie, provided.  It is also one of the cards in last week's Cards in the Mail Packet.

But did you know that today is National Send a Card to a Friend day??

Have you ever gotten excited when you open the mailbox and you find a handwritten card or letter? We all love getting items (not bills) in the mail. But why? Perhaps it's the time it takes to sit down in our busy lives and write the card. Perhaps it’s the fact that the person was thinking about you when they selected or made the card. Perhaps it’s the quaintness of receiving something so physical in our age of rapid digital and instant gratification.   So . . . who are you going to send a card to today???

You will notice when Susie designed this card that she used two smaller strips of the flowered paper instead of one larger piece?  This is a great way to use up all of those smaller pieces of designer series paper that you have laying around!!

Stamps: Friendly Hello
Cardstock: Pool Party, Basic Black, Basic White
Designer Series Paper: Friendly Hello
Ink: Momento Black
Accessories:  Gingham Embossing Folder, Pool Party 3/8" Sheer Ribbon,
Classic Matte Dots, Mini Glue Dots,

This morning brings another doctor's appointment for John and his legs.  We are hoping that the doctor is as happy with them as we are.  Cardstock cutting and cleaning and sorting are on the agenda when we get home!!

Sweet Conversations

Today I have again used the Sweet Conversations and the Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper to make this card to share with you.  This is also a card that I made with the Stampin' Sisters last month and that we made at a Make-It-Monday.

I know I have used this pattern of paper in the Sweet Talk package a lot lately but it is obviously my favorite!!  This is a layout that I use frequently as well.  Super simple, super fast . . . so if you need a lot of Valentine's in a short period of time this is the card for you.

Stamps: Sweet Conversations
Cardstock: Basic White Thick, Highland Heather, Basic White
Designer Series Paper: Sweet Talk
Ink: Highland Heather, Melon Mambo
Accessories:  Highland Heather 1/2" Gros Grain Ribbon, Pastel Pearls,

Yesterday ended up being a stay-at-home kind of day since it seemed so cold outside and the wind seemed pretty strong.  I didn't get much accomplished but I did manage to stay warm.  I may venture out today . . . don't really need anything but as my dad used to say . . . "get the stink blowed off!"  I think that means I just need some fresh air!!  Whatever I end up doing needs to be done by late afternoon so that I can watch the Hawks play basketball.

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Slim Sayings

Today I have another card for you that we made at Technique/Stamp Club on Thursday night.  I called this technique Ombre Sentiments.  This is also a card I made a few weeks ago at the retreat I went to hosted by the Stampin' Sisters.

This technique is super simple.  You simply take your sponge daubers and your chosen inks and daub the colors onto the stamp, breath on it, and then stamp.  Like I said . . . simple . . . but a cool effect!!

Stamps: Slim Sayings
Cardstock: Fresh Freesia, Basic White
Designer Series Paper: Flowering Fields
Ink: Fresh Freesia, Highland Heather, Rich Razzleberry
Accessories:  Sponge Daubers, Fresh Freesia 3/8" Open Weave Ribbon,
Pastel Pearls

Today is another totally free day with nothing on the agenda.  I feel like I should be doing something since the sun is shining and it is going to be a little bit warmer, but nothing has come to mind yet.  We shall see what the day brings!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Happy Stamping!!
