Prize Peony

One of the things COVID-19 has caused me to do is to use more designer series paper, rather then to hoard it!!  Such is the case with this card that everyone got to make at Make-It-Monday the other night.

It is a good thing then that Stampin' Up! is having a sale on their designer series paper starting tomorrow!!  Check back for more details then!!

I chose here to use one of the Petal Pink sheets of paper but this card looks fabulous with all of the colored sheets of designer series paper in this pack.

Stamps: Prize Peony
Cardstock: Petal Pink, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Peony Garden
Ink: Memento Black, Petal Pink
Accessories: Stitched Nested Labels, Champagne Rhinestones,

Yesterday ended up being pretty productive day even though I was gone for a large chunk of it.  The most important thing I did yesterday was to go buy a walking membership at the Y.  Now I will be able to start my walking again in a safe place with good footing.

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Queen Anne's Lace

Last week Stampin' Up! had a stamp set sale and Queen Anne's Lace was one of the sale sets so of course I had to get it!!  It was never one that really caught my eye in the catalog, but I think it had more to do with the samples it was displayed with, rather than the actual stamp set.

So of course I had to make a card with it right away.  This is a very simple card, but there were several comments at Make-It-Monday last night about how much people liked it.  So sometimes simple is good!!  I really like how you can still see little hints of the green stem through the white embossed blossoms, because that is how real flowers really are.

Stamps: Queen Anne's Lace
Cardstock: Whisper White Thick, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White
Ink: Pear Pizzazz
Accessories: layering Circles Dies, Versamark, White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool,
Stampin' Dimensionals

Today is just like many other days . . . appointments, stamping, and baseball!!  I may decide that walking is going to start up again, but we shall see!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

So Much Love

Sometimes simple is good.  And if you want to make a lot of cards, simple is really good!!   The designer series paper makes it easy to be simple!!

I don't often stamp directly onto the designer series paper, but I need to remember to do more of it.  This pattern in the 6"X 6" color family stacks makes it very easy to do!!  Since this is a card that everyone will be making tonight at Make-It-Monday, I decided to go this route to give them break from coloring, since we did so much of it last time!!

Stamps: So Much Love
Cardstock: Whisper White Thick
Designer Series Paper: Brights 6" X 6"
Ink: Misty Moonlight
Accessories:  Banners Pick a Punch, Basic Rhinestone Jewels,
Stampin' Dimensionals

Good company, good stamping, good food, and good weather sums up the weekend!!  I had a blast spending it with some of my stamping friends, where we placed tables in socially distant places outside and spent Friday evening and all day Saturday stamping away.  A roaring fire and s'mores Saturday night was a great way to end the day!!  It was so good to feel that little bit of normalcy in a crazy crazy year!!

Today I need to finish getting ready for Make-It-Monday and do a little but of resting before a busy week!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Happy Stamping!!

Happiest of Birthdays

Know anybody having a birthday?  Need to send them a card?  Then I have the card for you!!

This layout would work perfectly for anyone . . . male or female with just a change out of your designer series papers.  It was also perfect for one of this week's cards in the Mail.

Stamps: Happiest Birthdays
Cardstock: Misty Moonlight, Seaside Spray, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Flowers For Every Season
Ink: Misty Moonlight
Accessories:  Peony Dies, Hippo & Friend Dies,
Misty Moonlight 1/4" In Color Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals

I can hardly believe I am saying this but I am going somewhere this weekend. It will be the first time my bags have been packed since the beginning of March.  I am spending the weekend stamping with some friends.  There will be no Internet access so no posting until Monday morning.  To say I am excited would be an understatement!!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Happy Stamping!!

Forever Fern

Forever Fern is one stamp set that I used constantly when it first came out but have not used much lately.  I decided it was time to change that.

I saw a card that was similar to this one, but the focal piece was stamped rather than designer series paper.  I decided the paper would work and I could use it for a Cards in the Mail card.

Stamps: Forever Fern
Cardstock: Garden Green, Pretty Peacock, Pool Party, Basic Black, Whisper White, Vellum
Designer Series Paper: Forever Greenery
Accessories:  Tasteful Textures Embossing Folder,
Versamark, Gold Embossing Powder,
Heat Tool, Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack,
Stampin' Dimensionals

Today is going to be a catch up day and getting ready day.  I need to have all that done by 12:30 because the Cubs are actually on TV this afternoon and I would like to watch them.  I may try to work a little more after the game, but we shall see.

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Blossoms in Bloom

When I saw this card on another Iowa Demonstrator's Site . . . The Stamp Shach . . . I knew I had to include it in a Cards in the Mail Class.  I love the different textures that she combined in this card.

Not just the textures, but the color combination is absolutely gorgeous in person.   The combining of the three colors of Brushed Metallic cardstock  is not something I would probably have thought of but I absolutely love it!!

Stamps: Blossoms in Bloom
Cardstock: Smoky Slate, Whisper White (Inside), Brushed Metallic
Designer Series Paper: In Good Taste
Ink: Misty Moonlight
Accessories:Gathered Leaves Dies, Old World Dies,

Today is going to be an errand running kind of day.  I have a grocery order to pick up, another stop I want to make in Washington, and some stamp orders to deliver.  I am also hoping to spend some time in my stamp room getting ready for this weekend and also the In Person Make-It-Monday night next week.

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Playful Patterns

The Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper has to be one of the most versatile packs of paper we have ever had.  And who doesn't have a lot of little paper scraps laying around!!  This is one card that will surely help you use them up!!

You could actually change out the sentiment on this card and it would be great for thank you, congratulations, thinking of you . . . the possibilities are endless!!

Beautiful Autumn

This stamp set is very aptly named . . . it is a beautiful stamp set and it represents a beautiful time of the year!!  And when it is paired with the Gilded Autumn Designer Series Papers, it becomes even more beautiful.

This card also uses the some of the greenery (or should I say goldery) from the Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper.  I had ordered a packet of this paper but hadn't had an opportunity to use it before now.

Stamps: Beautiful Autumn
Cardstock: Early espresso, Very Vanilla
Designer Series Paper: Gilded Autumn, Forever Gold Laser Cut
Ink: Early Espresso
Accessories:  Stitched Rectangle Dies, Mini Glue Dots,

Wow . . . am I ever glad the kids talked me into a TV in my stamping room.  I actually spent most of the day there yesterday stamping and watching football and baseball . . . and live games not reruns!!  Today I have many many projects that I want to get done . . . we will see how much I actually accomplish!!

Forever Fern

A while back I had an order for some thinking of you and sympathy cards. Rooted In Nature and Forever Fern are great cards to use for just this purpose if you are not sure who the recipient of the card will be.  Gender neutral cards are not always easy for me to make but with these sets they are a snap!!

I also love the many combinations you can come up with when making fall cards.  I was talking with a friend the other day about how card stock usage is really very seasonal . . . not something you would necessarily think of but I use a whole lot more browns and greens in the fall than I do any other time of the year.  And Cinnamon Cider was a great addition to our brown family of colors.

Stamps: Forever Fern, Rooted In Nature
Cardstock: Cinnamon Cider, Cajun Craze, Mossy Meadow, Pumpkin PieVery Vanilla
Ink: Cinnamon Cider,
Accessories:  Layering Ovals Dies, Versamark, Cinnamon Cider 1/4" Ribbon,
Mini Glue Dots
Stampin' Dimensionals,

Missing in action was the name of the game yesterday.  We had no Internet or TV service for most of the morning.  I finally decide to leave a message on the local telephone company's answering machine even though they said they would not be there until Monday.  Unbeknownst to me, they must check their messages because about a half an hour after I left the message here came someone to look into the problem.  Actually, he knew what the problem was before he ever got here.  We just needed a new battery pack for the box in the basement where all the lines come in.  So . . . I had to take all of the stuff off of the landing so he could get to the basement.  Not that it is hard, just takes some doing.  Third time this week I have had to do that.  Drain√ Furnace√ Internet/TV√  Hopefully there is not much else in the basement to be checked.  I stamped a little after that and then watched baseball the rest of the afternoon.

Gather Together

Today's card comes straight from my friend, Susie.  She had one on her page just like this the other day and I fell in love with it!  I knew it would be perfect for a Make-It-Monday!!

This card is so simple, and if you had to make a lot of thank you cards, it would be easy to make multiples.  Change up the sentiment and it works for many occasions.

Stamps: Gather Together, Beautiful Autumn
Cardstock: Sahara Sand, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze
Ink: Early Espresso
Accessories:  Braided Linen Thread, Mini Glue Dots,

Even though I am a coffeholic I had to look at this stamp set several times before I decided I just had to have it!!  Now that I do have it I have seen several awesome cards using this set.  I found this one on StamperCamper's site.

It is one of the cards that everyone got to make on Monday night.  I love the plaids in this card.  The Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper Pack has so many different colors  and combinations that fit all seasons.  This is one designer series paper pack you don't want to miss!!

My day today is full of all kinds of perks!!  How could a day not be good when you get an awesome report from your oncologist and he says you are doing exceptionally well and he doesn't need to see you for a year . . . you only need labs at the 6 month mark!!  I knew I was feeling well, but 2020 has been such a strange year with so many twists and turns, it is nice to get that confirmation!!

Jar of Flowers

One of the first stamp sets you come to when browsing the 2020-2021 Idea Book and Catalog is the jar of Flowers stamp set.  I hadn't really used this set at all as I have been making cards that only require sentiments and this one has no sentiments at all.

But, for Make-It-Monday last night I needed some cards that had more stamping on them and this is one of the cards everyone got to make. Although there is a lot of coloring on this card, I think everyone liked it!!

Stamps:  Jar of Flowers, Lovely You
Cardstock: Whisper White Thick, Early Espresso, Whisper White
Ink: Early Espresso
Stampin' Blends:  Old Olive Combo Pack, Soft Suede Combo Pack,
Daffodil Delight Combo Pack, Poppy Parade Combo Pack,
Cajun Craze Combo Pack

Oh my . . . did it feel good to see everyone and stamp together and visit and share!!  Although I forgot to take a picture when everyone was there (too busy gabbing, I guess), the new location in Riverside is about perfect!!! Everyone had their face coverings and hand sanitizer or wipes and I think was just glad to get together and stamp and visit.  We will be meeting here at least through the end of the year and maybe beyond that!!  Thanks, Cindy and Rusty for facilitating the finding and arranging of a new room!!!

Celebrate Tidings

This weekend I had the opportunity to attend a virtual stamping retreat . . . Holiday Hoopla hosted by The Stamping Sisters.  While it was not near as much fun as attending an event in person, it was still a great time.  They provided several stamping projects and this card was one of them.  I added the Gilded gems because as Hanna says. . . all cards need bling!!

This is actually one of the cards everyone will be making tonight at Make-It-Monday.  Yes you heard that right . . . Make -It-Monday is happening tonight!!

Stamps: Celebrate Tidings

Beautiful Autumn

I should be in Illinois at a stampin' retreat this weekend with a friend.  Instead I am sitting in from of my computer and attending the retreat virtually.  It is okay and I am glad they are still doing it but it sure isn't as fun as being together!!  I did decide to participate in the card swap for the retreat and this is the card I made.

Joseph's Coat is one of my favorite all time techniques, particularly using fall colors so of course I had to use that technique.  I was super pleased with the way it turned out!!

Poinsettia Petals

Are you ready to see more of the gorgeous Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper?  This is just one of the awesome pattens that is in the package!!

I don't normally think of cream, brown, and white, when I am making Christmas cards, but maybe I will have to rethink that after working with this paper!!

Designer Series Paper: Poinsettia Place

Poinsettia Petals

Sometimes simple is best.  I think this card shows that perfectly!!  Very simple and easy to duplicate if you are making a lot of them!!!

Stamp With Jamie is a site I follow and she had this beautiful poinsettia card.  I knew it would be perfect for the Poinsettia Petals Product based class.  I did use the die to cut this poinsettia.  There are many other poinsettias you could fussy cut by hand so that you can maximize the designer series paper.

Stamps: Poinsettia Petals
Cardstock: Very Vanilla Thick, Soft Suede
Designer Series Paper: Poinsettia Place
Ink: Soft Suede
Accessories: Poinsettia Dies, Pearl Basic Jewels, Stampin' Dimensionals

Today is going to be another great day to stay inside and stamp and read the day away.  I will say I am ready for the rain to be gone!!!  Dreary, dreary, dreary!!  But it is good for the productively!!

Poinsettia Petals

The more I worked with the Poinsettia Petals Suite the better I liked it.  I have always loved poinsettias anyway although I can never keep them alive.  I guess I will settle for them on my cards.  My problem will be which one do I settle on for my Christmas cards this year.

The Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper is super cool.  It has a nice texture and really adds to the cards!!

Poinsettia Petals

Is it too early for Christmas cards?  Not if you are going to be making a lot of them!!!  This pretty poinsettia Christmas card is one of the cards in my Poinsettia Petals Product Based Class.

Yes, there was a lot of die cutting and embossing on this card but I sure do think it was worth it!!  The picture does not do it justice!!  It is absolutely gorgeous in person.  Maybe not traditional Christmas colors but I love it all the same.  The Beaded Pearl Embellishment, which I did not think I needed, was the finishing touch.

Love of Leaves

Yesterday my friend, Susie, posted a sketch challenge for us to try.  I had some pieces laying on my stamping table leftover from when I demonstrated the Baby Wipe Technique Thursday night at technique Club.  I thought . . . why not use those!!

I must say I am absolutely in love with the way these leaves turn out!!! So very pretty!!  I am anxious to try some using different colors of reinkers!!

I am not really sure which of these color combinations I like the best.  What do you think?

If you would be interested in learning different stamping techniques like this one, let me know and we can get you signed up for a Technique Club.

Beautiful Autumn

The second technique that we worked with last Thursday night was the Reverse Masking Technique.  I let the girls go through my technique book and pick the techniques they wanted to do for the next several months . . . providing we get to continue for several months!!

I was thrilled Reverse Masking was one of the techniques they chose, because my friend Judy, and I had just made a card using that that technique when she came down and we stamped.

Well . . . my baseball doubleheader did not turn out as I had hoped, but there is always another game.  Today is going to be back to stamping some and planning a couple of new classes.  It looks like it is going to be a pretty hot day so my stamping room will be a good place to be!!

 Love of Leaves

Thursday was the first Thursday of the month and that meant it was Technique Club Thursday!!  Oh how long it has been since I was able to post that!!!  It was so good to get together and again and stamp and visit.  One of the techniques that this group had never done was the Baby Wipes Technique and I had just seen an awesome card on a site I follow . . . Stamp With Bonnie . . . that used that very technique.

This is a technique that I don't use very often because it is so messy . . . but as you can see it is oh so worth it!!

You can actually get a couple of stamped images from the baby wipe without applying more reinker so of course I had to try another one.  After you get your images stamped, you can make a piece of background paper by swiping your baby wipe across the cardstock.

As you can see you can get totally different looks depending on which side of the folded baby wipe you use do your swiping.

Stamps: Love of Leaves
Cardstock: Pretty Peacock, Bumblebee, Cajun Craze, Whisper White
Ink: Pretty Peacock
Accessories: Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, and Pretty Peacock Reinkers,

Well I did not take advantage of the beautiful weather yesterday to go outside, but I was fairly productive.  I got caught up on my bookwork and did a little a little more rearranging in my stamp room.  And of course, watched a Cubs victory.  As soon as I am done posting this I am off to the grocery store and to run a few other errands.  Today is a baseball double header so you know where I will be this afternoon and evening!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!
