Rooted In Nature

Sympathy cards are hard to make . . . and making 30 unique sympathy cards all at once is even harder.  This is one of the cards I made to fill an order.

Rooted in Nature is the perfect set to make gender neutral cards, which is what I needed for this order.  That way they can be sent to anyone as the need arises.  The trees and nature items in this set lend themselves very well to this request.

Stamps: Rooted In Nature, Flourishing Phrases
Cardstock: Shaded Spruce,Early Espresso, Whisper White
Ink: Early Espresso, Shaded Spruce and Early Espresso Stampin' Write markers
Accessories: Nature's Roots Framelits, Woodland Embossing Folder,
Big Shot, Gold Faceted Gems, Mini Stampin' Dimensionals

Every journey needs to start somewhere and my walking journey is going to start today.  When I went to vote in the school board election Tuesday, I inquired about walking at the track at our local YMCA.  They do have a walker's club, so I decided to join.  Not sure how far I will walk today but like I said every journey needs to start with the first step.  My goal is to build up some walking stamina for a couple of trips I have planned for November and December.  Other than that it will be more of the same . . . stamping and baseball!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Happy Stamping!!

You have two more days to take advantage of ordering this stamp set!!! There are so many things that you can do with it . . . fall, spring, Christmas, wedding, thank yous, congratulations . . . the possibilities are endless.  This is one of the cards I made at an event of Susie's that I went to last month.

It is also one of the cards that everyone made this week that stamped with me.

Rooted In Nature

I have been working on an order of sympathy cards lately. They are not my favorite kind of card to make, but it seems like they are one of the most needed.  Here is one of the 30 cards I have been making.

This could very easily be a birthday or thank you card with a quick change out of the sentiment.

Stamps: Rooted in Nature, Painted Glass
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Mossy Meadow, Whisper White, Old Olive
Ink:Mossy Meadow, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake,
Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso Markers
Accessories: Stitched Shapes Framelits, Layering Ovals Framelits,
Nature's Roots Framelits, Nature's Twine, Stampin' Sponges,
Stampin' Dimensionals, Glue Dots

I stamped most of the day away yesterday on this order of cards.   I have most of the sympathy cards done and now am moving on to a happier occasion of cards . . . congratulations cards.  I need to make 30 of them as well.  Hopefully I can get a bunch of them stamped so that I can put them together this afternoon while I watch baseball.  It will be a long afternoon of baseball as they have to finish the game from last night which is tied in the tenth inning.  After the finish of that game they play their regularly scheduled game.  A great afternoon!!!

Broadway Birthday

It was interesting to listen to the comments as people were making this card last night at stamp night. They echoed my feelings exactly . . . . this set, paper, and embellishments were not even on my radar until after seeing and making this card.

My friend, Susie, has a way of taking stamp sets, paper, and embellishments and making cards so you think you can't live without them.  Such was the case when I made this card at one of her events a couple of weeks ago.  I had to come home and order it right away.

Stamps: Broadway Birthday
Cardstock: Basic Black, Gray Granite, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Broadway Bound
Ink: Memento Black
Accessories: Broadway Lights Framelits, Big Shot,
Candle Embellishments, Black Satin Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals

Yesterday was an awesome day . . . my oncology appointment went quite well.  In fact he told me I was as healthy as if I had never had lymphoma and my chances of it recurring are no greater than anyone else's getting it in the first place.  Music to my ears!!!  I knew I hadn't slept well for a couple of nights prior to my appointment but last night I slept like a rock and for 11 and a half hours!!!  Peace of mind is worth a lot!!!

Today is going to be a repeat of many of my days, now that I am awake . . . stamping and baseball!!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Dandelion Wishes

Today's card is another one I received as a swap.  I love the way it is sponged with a mask for the sun.  This card makes me thing of being a kid and blowing the dandelion seeds all around.  If kids still do this, it's no wonder there are so many dandelions!!  Reminds me of something my dad used to say . . . "A weed is just a flower in the wrong place."

This is another one of the cards everyone will be making tonight at Make-It-Monday.

Stamps: Dandelion Wishes
Cardstock: Whisper White Thick, Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink: Black Memento, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry
Accessories: Stampin' Sponges, 1" Circle Punch (for mask)

Today is going to be a pretty busy day.  I will be leaving here shortly to head to Iowa City.  I am delivering some orders, and then head off to the University for an oncology check up.  Hopefully I am done in time to run a few more errands before stamp night tonight.  If not . . . there is always tomorrow to run errands!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Blended Seasons

Today's fall card uses the LIMITED TIME ONLY stamp set, Blended Season.  This stamp set is available until August 31st or while supplies last!!  This is such an awesome set, you won't want to miss out on it!!

This is one of the cards that everyone stamping with me tomorrow night will be making.

Stamps: Blended Season
Cardstock: Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry,
Cajun Craze, Very Vanilla (inside), Watercolor Paper
Ink: Black Stazon
Accessories: Watercolor Pencils Assortment #2,
Aquapainter, Linen Thread, Glue Dots,

Yesterday was a very productive day.  I set out to get my cardstock cut for tomorrow night so I could stuff envelopes while watching the Cubs game.  I managed to do that and sat down to watch the game only to find out is was blacked out in my area.  So I went to my laptop to see if it could possible be on any other channel and found out is was streaming live through Facebook. YIPPEE!!  So back to my stamp room I went with my laptop and watched the game while gathering all supplies for all of the cards and finishing up writing the supply list.  So now everything is waiting by the door to be loaded into the car tomorrow.

I am headed to Iowa City this morning to get computer ink and visit the nail salon.  I was going to try and squeeze everything in tomorrow, but this will make things so much easier.  I hope to work on an order of cards this afternoon, so we shall see what happens.

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Love What You Do

Yesterday I said one of the things I look for when I am swapping is unusual folds.  This card fits the bill perfectly.

I especially like this fold because it still gives you a lot of room on the inside of the card for your message.

This is one of the cards that everyone will be making Monday night at Make-It-Monday.  I love the color combination!!

Stamps: Love What You Do
Cardstock: Shaded Spruce, Mint Macaron, Rich Razzleberry
Designer Series Paper: Share What You Love
Ink: Shaded Spruce, Rich Razzleberry
Accessories: Lovely Floral Embossing Folder, Big Shot,
2" Circle Punch, 2 1/4" Circle Punch, Pearlized Doilies

Stamping and Baseball . . . sounds like a broken record . . . but that is what is on the agenda again today!  I would like to get everything cut for Monday night this morning so that I can stuff envelopes this afternoon during the baseball game.  We shall see!!

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Happy Stamping!!

Lovely Floral Embossing Folder

When swapping cards at an event I try to do a couple of things . . . look for stamp sets that I don't have, look for unusual layouts, and look for colors that are outside of my usual color choices.  This card, received once again in Illinois, definitely uses a color that I have not used yet . . . Pineapple Punch.

It is so bright when seen by itself that I just never reach for it.  But it works perfectly here paired with Mango Melody.

Cardstock: Pineapple Punch, Mango Melody, Whisper White
Ink: Pineapple Punch, Mango Melody, Old Olive
Accessories:  Lovely Floral Embossing Folder, Big Shot,
Sponge Daubers, 1/8" Pineapple Punch Gros Grain Ribbon, Glue Dots

Yesterday's retired teacher coffee was a good time . . . so good in fact that I did not leave until after 12:00 and I still had to stop at Stringtown and also run errands in Iowa City.  There were no peaches to be had at Stringtown so I went on into Iowa City, did my grocery shopping and other errands.  I did get enough peaches to make my peach crisp yesterday afternoon.  It wasn't as good as some I have made but it wasn't that bad either.  By that time it was late late afternoon, so I caught up on all of my bookwork and then watched the Cubs last night.  My hope is that I can get some stamping done this morning, figuring out what we are going to make on Monday night, before the Cubs come on again this afternoon.

Peaceful Place

Here is another card that I swapped for over the weekend.  I was thinking that I didn't really need this stamp set because I thought it was a lot of coloring but I have seen some really neat things lately that have no coloring on them.

I love the use of the gold foil on this card.  It is so elegant in person . . . even better than the photo.

Stamps: Peaceful Place
Cardstock: Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Gold Foil, Cardstock Vellum
Ink: Black Stazon
Accessories: Triple Banner Punch, Mini Glue Dots

I am on the go again . . . today is the retired teacher's coffee at the local coffee shop.  Not sure how long I am going to stay as I have several errands I need to run in Iowa City.  I also want to stop at Stringtown and see if I can get some peaches.  We have been kind of hungry for peach crisp, so I will see what I can find.

Floral Frames

One of the things I like best about swapping at an event is receiving cards with stamp sets that I don't own.  That way I have examples to show people that might not necessarily appeal to me.  The swap comes from a demonstrator named Martha Swift.  While this swap does appeal, I don't have this stamp set . . . yet.

I love the look of the copper embossed basket weave piece.

Stamps: Floral Frames
Cardstock: Night of Navy, Whisper White, Copper Foil
Ink: Night of Navy
Accessories: Foliage Frame Framelit Dies, Basket Weave Embossing Folder,
Big Shot, Rich Razzleberry Light Stampin' Blend, Petal Pink
Light Stampin' Blend, Old Olive Stampin' Blend Combo Pack,
Stampin' Dimensionals

As soon as I am done posting this I am going to make a trip to one of the elementary schools in the district to meet up with the art teacher and give her the rest of the garage sale paper and ribbon.  That way I know it is going to a good cause and I can still be supporting the schools.

Clearly as late as I have been sleeping I still need to catch up on some rest after the weekend so there is not much else on the agenda.  I may do some stamping, but we shall see.

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Joy & Noel

I know it is a little early for Christmas but I wanted to use this set and technique for our Saturday night shoebox swap.

I was amazed at how well the color lifter worked to take the color off of the white words when I got a little color on them.

Stamps: Joy & Noel
Cardstock: Old Olive, Real Red, Basic Black
Designer Series Paper: Under the Mistletoe
Accessories:Versamark, White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool,
Old Olive Stampin' Blend Dark, Real Red Stampin' Blend Dark,
Silver 3/8" Metallic Edge Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals

Yesterday was a pretty low key day and I think today is going to be the same. I did manage to get my suitcase unpacked yesterday.  I am hoping to get all of the leftover swap cards from this weekend and the leftover pieces from the last Make-it-Monday stamped up today and assembled.  Other than that I am planning on resting and reading!!

Great company, great fun, and great stamping projects.  I can't wait until the next stamping trip!!!

Falling For Leaves

I debated about making a general swap for the event I am going to this weekend since we are doing so many shoebox swaps, but then I decided . . . why not.  Again, I reworked a card I had done previously with items that are in the Holiday Catalog.  You can see the original card here.

I will say that by the time I got done die cutting all of these leaves for 32 cards I had quite a pile of leaves to rake!!

Stamps: Falling For leaves
Cardstock: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Shaded Spruce, Grapefruit Grove, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry
Ink: Early Espresso, Pumpkin Pie
Accessories:Detailed Leaves Thinlit Dies, Layering Circles Framelits,

I am headed out here in just a little bit to go to Bettendorf where I am meeting up with some friends to continue on to Champaign, Illinois were we will be going to Vacation Stamping School.  It is a weekend retreat type thing where we will shoebox swap, learn some new things do do with Holiday Catalog product, and just generally have fun!!  I am not sure what the Internet will be like in the hotel so I am not planning on posting over the weekend.  I hope I have lots of new things to start showing you on Monday!! Have a great weekend!!

Country Home

I changed up the card everyone made this week which you can see here, and used a new set from the Holiday catalog for the sentiment.    I also added another layer.

This is going to be one of my shoebox swaps for the event I am going to in Illinois this weekend.

Stamps: Country Home
Cardstock: Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Very Vanilla
Ink: Early Espresso, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Old Olive
Accessories:  Springtime Impressions Framelits, Big Shot,
Sponge Daubers, Basic Pearl Jewels

After yesterday's doctor's appointment where they told me my leg just needs more time to heal, the shopping trip was a success and a good time was had by all.  The only downside to the day was that the restaurant that we usually eat lunch at, has gone out of business so we had to make due with Hu Hot. Not a bad second, though.  I found several books I had been wanting to read at the Half Price Book Store so with the cooler temperatures next week, I can foresee some patio sitting with a good book!!

Pop Of Petals

I am still exploring all of the color combinations since we have many new colors to work with this year.  Soft Sea Foam is one of those.  Not sure I am totally sold on it, but it is growing on me.

This is the last of the cards everyone who stamped with me this week made.

Stamps: Pop of Petals, Itty Bitty Greetings
Cardstock: Smoky Slate, Soft Sea Foam, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Tranquil Textur4es
Ink: Smoky Slate
Accessories: Classic Label Punch, Four Petal Punch,
3/8" Whisper White Classic Weave Ribbon, Basic Rhinestone Jewels,
Clear Faceted Gems, Stampin' Dimensionals

As soon as I am done posting this I am out the door for an early morning appointment for my leg.  It is better, but still not healed so am not sure what the next step will be.  After that I have one more appointment, and then Luetta and I are headed out for one more day of shopping and a lunch before she starts back to school.

I am gaining on my swaps for this weekend . . . there is still some work to be done on them so depending on how long we are gone, I may try and get those done today.  If not there is always tomorrow or the car ride on Friday.

A Little Twinkle

A super good way to use up your paper scraps is with a starburst card.  I had several pieces left over after the last stamp night so they were right on my table easy to use.

This is one of the cards everyone got to make last night.  With a quick change out of the Pool Party starburst to Petal Pink and you have a feminine version.

Stamps: A Little Twinkle
Cardstock: Soft Sea Foam, Pool Party, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Twinkle Twinkle
Ink: Basic Gray
Accessories: Starburst Punch, 2" Circle Punch,
Faceted Dots, Stampin' Dimensionals

Wow . . . after an early morning hair appointment there is nothing on my schedule again today but stamping and baseball.  I sound like a broken record . . . but I happen to like this broken record!!  My swaps are well underway and just need a little bit of assembly which is quite easy to do in front of the TV.  A perfect day!!

Darling Label Punch Box

If you like tins then you are going to love the tin that this stamp set . . . . Darling Label stamp set and coordinating punch come in!!

And here is the tin that the stamp set and punch come in.  Awesome for so many things!! Photo was taken directly from the catalog.

Yesterday was a very productive day . . . everything is cut, ready,  and packed for tonight's Make-It-Monday.  I made great headway on my swaps for this weekend.  John and I went out for dinner to celebrate our anniversary which is actually today, and we were home in time to watch the Cubs game, which had a fantastic ending.  It doesn't get much more exciting than a walk off grand slam in the bottom of the 9th inning!!!

I hope to finish up my swaps today before heading to Iowa City a little early to run some errands before stamp night tonight.

Blended Seasons

Today's card is a combination of two cards I saw when I was stamping at Susie's at one of her events. I took the color combination of one and the layout of another.  I love the fall combination of colors!!

This is one of the cards that everyone will be making tomorrow night at Make-It-Monday.  I hope they like it as much as I do!!

Today is the last no activity day for a while.  There is nothing on my schedule so I think I will spend it the way I do most days . . . stamping and baseball.  If I am lucky I can finish up some of my swaps for an event I am going to next weekend.  If not, then I will finish them sometime this week.

Every day is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Abstract Impressions

I love the colors of fall!!!  I received a swap card similar to this using spring colors back in June.  You can see it here.  I didn't get around to using it at Make-It-Monday then, so decided to switch it up with fall colors and use it this week.

I debated about using reinkers and the aqua painter, but ended up just going with inks and sponge daubers.  I love the way it turned out.

Stamps: Abstract Impressions
Cardstock: Cajun Craze, Very Vanilla
Ink: Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Crushed Curry
Accessories: Springtime Impressions Framelits,
Lovely Floral Embossing Folder, Big Shot,
Sponge Daubers, Basic Pearl Jewels,
Stampin' Dimensionals

All is right in the Wilson world once again.  John had a good check at his appointment, I have a new garbage disposal, and while my leg is not better, at least it is not worse.  Today will be filled with baseball and stamping as I have a lot of things I need to get ready for and other swaps I need to finish!!!

Blended Seasons

The second technique we worked with last night at Technique/Stamp Club is the round and round technique using a Stamparatus.

I know it is a little early for Christmas but the leaves worked perfectly to demonstrate this technique.

Stamps: Blended Seasons, Seasonal Chums
Cardstock: Old Olive, Real Red, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Under the Mistletoe
Ink: Memento Black
Accessories: Stampartus, 1 1/4" Circle Punch,
1 3/8" Scalloped Circle Punch, Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels,
Stampin' Dimensionals

As soon as I am done posting this we are out the door as John has a routine doctor's appointment and I may call about my leg again.  Hopefully there will be some stamping time this afternoon while I wait on someone to come and fix or replace my garbage disposal.  Never a dull moment!!

Blended Seasons

Because of the wedding we postponed Technique/Stamp Club one week so it is tonight.  One of the techniques we are going to work with is Inlaid Embossing.

I used to use this technique quite a bit but have not done it for quite a while. I think it works very well with these leaves and the Woodland Embossing Folder.

L

Stamps: Blended Seasons

Almost everything is ready to go for tonight so now I need to turn my attention to Make-It-Monday cards.  I am halfway there in picking cards and it is only Thursday so I think I should be good.  Hopefully there will not be anymore impromptu doctor's appointments.

Blended Season

Are you tired of the Blended Season stamp set yet?  I sure hope not because I have lots more samples to show you!!!  This one comes from a blog I follow all the time . . . Stamp With Amy.

I think it makes a great fall card.  You could change out the sentiment and make it for just about any occasion.

Stamps: Blended Seasons
Cardstock: Soft Suede, Blackberry Bliss, Veery Vanilla
Ink: Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Blackberry Bliss,
Crushed Curry, Mango Melody
Accessories:  Versamark, White Embossing Powder,
Heat Tool, Stampin' Sponges, Linen Thread, Metallic Pearls

As soon as I am done posting this I am out the door for another appointment for my leg.  It looked a lot worse yesterday so I gave them call and they want to see me again.  Not the way I wanted to spend my day, but I know it is for the best.

I mentioned to the guy that mows our lawn about the trees and the power lines yesterday and he was back in about 30 minutes and took care of trimming the trees so that it shouldn't happen again.  That is a huge relief!!

I hope to spend this afternoon working on upcoming classes, but I guess we shall see!!

Blended Seasons

Despite all of the mishaps yesterday I did get to spend a little time in my stamping room.  Who knew that colored pencils with an aqua painter would give such a vibrant color on dark colored cardstock?  Not me, that's for sure!!

I saw a card similar to this on line somewhere and could not believe it would really work, so had to try it for myself.  I am thrilled with the results!!

Stamps: Blended Seasons
Cardstock:Basic Gray, Lemon Lime Twist, Whisper White (inside)
Accessories: Versamark, White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool,
Water Color Pencils Collection #2, Aquapainters,
Basic Pearl Jewels, Stampin' Dimensionals

Hopefully today will be an uneventful day other than stamping.  I have technique/stamp club and Make-It-Monday to get ready for.  I am also going to an event the next weekend where I will need four swaps, so I hope I have good luck today!!!

Little Elephant

It has been a morning  . . . more on that later!!  This little elephant guy makes the perfect baby card!!!  It is one that was also a shoebox swap in June.

I don't often need baby cards, but it is nice to have one on hand when I do need one.

Stamps: Little Elephant
Cardstock: Soft Sea Foam, Basic Gray, Whisper White
Ink: Gray Granite, Soft Sea Foam
Accessories: Striped Scallops Embossing Folder, Big Shot,

Stampin' Dimensionals

So . . . as I am sitting here this morning getting ready to do a blog post I hear something against the side of the house and look out the bay window and there are the electrical wires swinging back and forth against the window.  A call to Alliant energy was in order.  She asked me if it was an emergency and I told her no, because the wires were all still attached, just have come loose from one of the attachments that holds them on to the house.  She informs me that IS an emergency and they will send someone right out to disconnect our power so we can call an electrician to come and fix it.  Great!  The Alliant guy gets here about an hour later, takes a look at it, and says . . . no problem . . . I can fix that for you!  Problem solved!  Yeah!!!! And thank you to the nice kid that fixed it.  So I once again sit down to write my blog post and a spot on my leg starts oozing again from where I hit it on the bed frame last Tuesday.  So  . . . I decide a trip to Urgent Care might be warranted since my doctor is kind of hard to get in to see.  Yup . . . it's infected all right so now I have a prescription strength antibiotic cream to put on and strict instructions to watch it and if it is not getting to go back to the doctor sooner rather than later.  So . . . it is now 1:15 and I am finally getting my blog post done.  I had planned on stamping all day today and here half the day is gone already!!!  Hopefully I can get some things done this afternoon!!
