June Paper Pumpkin--Life is Sweet

I’m sharing the pretty June Paper Pumpkin Kit from Stampin’ Up! with you today!  This fantastic kit created 9 pretty cards with coordinating envelopes and it was called Life Is Sweet.

I  love the fun fruit images and the colors in this kit are perfect for summer!  This awesome thank you stamp set and a Shy Shamrock Stampin' Spot was included in the kit.

Check out the beautiful framing on this card!  I love the decorated card base too!

I love the pretty colors and scalloped die cuts on this card!

Look at the lemons and sparkly sentiment on this card!  The coordinating envelopes with the scalloped edges are beautiful!

It took me maybe 45 minutes to an hour to comolete all nine of these cards.  That is while in my recliner and watching a ball game a well.  Beautiful cards in a short amount of time.

Everything is set up and ready to go for the sale today.  I think I even have time to fit in a small nap!!

Changing Leaves

Today's card uses one of the new On Line Exclusive products.  The On Line Exclusive products are not in any catalog.  You can only see them on line here.

I started this card with a card base of Basic White Thick cardstock.  I stamped the large leaf using Pool Party ink being sure to stamp off first for a lighter shade.  I added a piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock embossed with the leaves embossing folder.  I stamped the large leaf with Shaded Spruce and cut it out with the dies.  The sentiment is also stamped in Shaded Spruce and cut out with the die in the set.  I added some linen thread and a pearl and my card was done.

My MRI took forever yesterday . . . they were running almost two hours behind so I didn't get home until almost six.  It was worth it though because the results came through last night and said . . . Similar posttreatment changes without interval disease recurrence . . . which I think means things are the same as they have been.  At least that is what I am going with until someone tells me different.

Today I am meeting my friends, Luetta and Joan, for lunch and then they are coming over to help me finish getting set up for the garage sale.  I have everything else put out except the actual stamps and dies and there are a lot of those.  I hope I have room for them all!!

Hearts and Hugs

Today's card is again made with the Hearts and Hugs stamp set.  All of the critters in this set are so cute.

I got this card in a swap so I am not quite sure how she got the mice facing each other.  I assume she stamped one on white cardstock and stamped another one onto a piece of acetate with black ink and then flipped it over and placed it where she wanted the second mouse.  This should give you a mirror image.

Yesterday morning after PT (which I graduated from) I got busy sorting all garage sale stuff and putting like items in the same baskets, buns, or boxes.  My friend, Joan, came down later in the afternoon and helped me (or rather she did most of it) clean off all of my tables and set them up in the living room.

As you can see I still have a lot of work to do but this is a great start.  I plan on working today until I need to leave for my three-month MRI and then work again when I get home.

Hearts and Hugs

Today's card is another one I received in a swap back in June.  The little critters in this stamp set make adorable cards!!

This card features one of the new In Colors, Pretty in Pink.  You might recognize that name from a few years ago, but this color is slightly different.  It still makes awesome baby and little girl cards, however!! The tiny hearts are from the dies that coordinate with this set.  The bow on this card is achieved by tying a bow in the middle of a piece of ribbon and then wrapping the ends around the cardstock.

As soon as I am done posting this I am off for a PT appointment and then home to continue with my sorting of garage sale merchandise.  I am getting closer everyday!!

Spotlight on Nature

Spotlight on Nature is one of the stamp sets that I got when Susie brought back my On Stage stuff back in March.  I haven't actually done a lot of stamping other than sentiments on Cards in the Mail, but  what stamping I have done has been with this bundle.

The dies in this bundle are super cool . . . all circles but with several various twists.   They certainly add interest to the card.  For this one, I chose to color in the flowers and stems with my Stampin' Blends.  The ribbon I used is a retired ribbon but matches perfectly.

Joan and I made an impromptu trip to Target in Cedar Rapids yesterday.  I got several baskets and organizing things that I hope will make my garage sale things easier to sort.  Time is growing short so I had best get busy on that!!

Thoughtful Wishes

Here is the last of this week's Cards in the Mail.  Sometimes monochromatic cards can be really cool.  This is a card that I received in a swap with a little modification.

but I thought that
I used Thick Basic White cardstock as the base and layered Night of Navy and Boho Blue on top. Normally, I would emboss the White Craft Ink with White Embossing Powder, but this time I liked the subtle look of just the ink. The original card had blue flowers stamped on a white circle and layered on the blue circle. However, for this Cards in the Mail card, I couldn't use a stamped image, so I found some coordinating Designer Series Paper and added a circle of that instead. Then I added some ribbon and my card was finished.

Laundry, envelope stuffing, sorting, and baseball are on the agenda for today.  I am slowly clearing out the stamping room . . . now to organie everything for next weekend.  I counted my tables outside and I have eight six-foot tables I can use, plus my kitchen table and kitchen counters and anything else I can find to put stuff out on.  I can only hope that is enough!!

So Sincere

Today's Card in the Mail is another one that I got from the swap I attended last weekend.  This is actually a funky fold card, but for Cards in the Mail, I made it into a regular flat fold card.

We start out with a base of Highland Heather and then layer some of the gorgeous Flowering Zinnia Designer Series Paper.  The two circle shapes are cut from the Stylish Shapes Dies.  Add a sentiment of your choice and some embellishment and your card is done!!

Cardstock cutting and sorting are on the agenda for today.  I am hoping to get everything cut this morning so that I can stuff envelopes while either watching the Cubs on my laptop or listening to the game on the radio.  If I get all of that done, I may go and pull some weeds now that I have been cleared to do a little of that as long as I don't dig in the dirt!!

Heartfelt Hexagon

Today's card is another one I received as a swap at the demo meeting I went to last Saturday.  I am not sure who made this card as I took it out of the envelope to take pictures and the tag disappeared.

Once again this card uses one of my favorite layouts.  The Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper package has some awesome scenic papers.  Any of them would make a beautiful card.  This card also features a new neutral color . . . Basic Beige.  It pairs very well with Mossy Meadow as you can see here.  Add a sentiment and some embellishments and your card is done.

Luckily the rain held off so we were able to have the parade yesterday. We had a driveway full of people to watch the parade with me.   The fireworks were cancelled early on in the day thinking it would be raining by the time they were to start.  It actually didn't rain at all yesterday, but better to be safe than sorry.

Today I am heading to Iowa City to take some Tootsie Rolls and a beaded necklace to the cemetery for my Mom.  When she used to come for the 4th of July she loved the Tootsie Rolls and necklaces that  the parade participants threw.  So I thought I would share them with her again this year.

Light the Sky

Happy 4th of July!!  It's time to celebrate the birthday of the United States.  Let's start with a card.

These photos are very fuzzy but for some reason, I couldn't get them any clearer today.  I think this set was designed to celebrate the New Year but I thought the fireworks were perfect for today.  And what better colors to use than Real Red and Night of Navy.

I certainly hope it does not rain on our parade this year but I have a feeling it is going to!!  Maybe it will stop by 10:00.

I don't think anything could top the 4th of July five years ago.  Hanna, Jake, and I were in Boston and started the day by going to hear the Declaration of Independence read from the Old State House balcony.  We ended the day on the banks of the Charles River listening to the Boston Pops Orchestra and watching the fireworks over the river.  A bucket list item for sure!!!

Happy Little Things

Today's card is one we made last Saturday as a shoebox swap and was brought by my friend, Jenni.  It is also one of this week's Cards in the Mail.

Starting with a card base of Smoky Slate, this card is just a matter of layering different colors of cardstock and designer series paper.  The Take to the Skies Designer Series paper is perfect for masculine cards.  If you don't have this stamp set, you could just put your sentiment on the white piece of cardstock and move the unstamped hexagon around until you like the look of the layout.

Today is another appointment day.  As soon as I am done posting this I am out the door for a fun nail appointment and then will hurry back to Wellman for my physical therapy appointment.  Believe me, after sitting for 100 days, these busy days are no trouble at all.

Perennial Postage (Retired)

Today's card is one I received in a swap on Saturday.  It uses the retired sentiment stamp set, Perennial Postage.

Once again this card uses one of my favorite layouts.  If you look back through the site you will see a LOT of cards using this layout.  Layr the designer series paper and the sentiment piece, add some bling, and you are done.

Lunch yesterday ended up being almost 2.5 hours long.  When I got home I went back into purge mode in my stamping room and found a hidden treasure trove of embellishments that quickly went into my garage sale stack.  Today I am meeting another friend for coffee this morning and then will continue the purge.  The 12th and 13th of July will be here before I know it.

Spotlight on Nature

Today's card uses Spotlight on Nature again and is the one I took as my completed swap to the downline meeting on Saturday.

I started by using one of the circle dies from the Spotlight On Nature Die set and die-cutting a circle in the middle of a 4" X 5.25" piece of Basic White cardstock.  This was my circle template.  Using a small blending brush and Lemon Lolly, Pool Party, and Fresh Freesia inks, I filled in my circle as shown.  Before I moved the mask I stamped the flowers using Memento Black ink.  After removing the mask I added the sentiment using the memento Black ink again.  I then embossed a 4" X .75" strip of white cardstock with the Eyelet 3D Embossing Folder.  I added three Rainbow Adhesive-Backed Dots and I was done.

I feel like I have been eating my way around the world . . . although not much at any one place.  Last Wednesday I met a friend at the Mexican restaurant in Kalona, Friday a friend and I ate at HuHot and today I am meeting friends at Olive Garden.  Food still does not appeal to me when I have to cook it but these three meals have been or will be great.
