The Right Words

Today's card is another one made with the Peaceful Garden Designer Series Paper and the stamp set The Right Words.

This card starts with a Misty Moonlight card base folded to make a fun fold card. Layer a piece of Peaceful Gardens Designer Series Paper onto the lower half of the card.  Use the Traditional Labels dies and die cut the sentiment pieces out of the Peaceful Garden Glimmer Paper. Add some ribbon embellishments and  your card is done.

Today is a totally free day with absolutely nothing on my calendar.  I am going to take advantage of today because starting the first of November days like this are going to be few and far between!!

Loveliest Tree

I love looking at fall leaves so what better thing to stamp than colorful fall leaves.  This is one of the cards everyone stamping with me this week got to make.

For this colorful leaf card I used the Ink Swipe Technique.  This technique is quick and simple to do using some of your favorite colors for fall. And why not use Very Vanilla card stock too? I love using this card stock during the holidays as it has a warmer less bright feel to it.

1.Using your open Crushed Curry ink pad swipe, tap, and drag it onto your card stock randomly.
 2. Repeat with additional Peach Pie, Timid Tiger, Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler ink pads. (Making sure to go from lightest to darkest color to protect ink pads.)
 3. Allow to dry.
 4. Use a lighter Darling Duckling ink pad and swipe the pad over card stock to fill in and “blend” the areas.
 5. Stamp tree onto Very Vanilla Card stock panel using Early Espresso Classic Ink as well as stamping it onto the colorful panel you have just made.
 6.  Die cut both of them.
 7. Trim the top of the tree off of the technique die cut tree.
 8. Adhere the tree top over the other stamped tree.
 9.  Layer a piece of Very Vanilla ocer a piece Of Crushed Curry.
10.  Adhere the tree to the layered panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
11.  Adhere to card front using dimensionals.

Isn't this a fun technique?  When I make another one I will probably go a little lighter with the Cherry Cobbler swiping, but overall I am very happy with the results.

I only wish it were as warm outside as the sun makes it appear.  I do have an appointment in Iowa and want to run a couple of errands while I am there.  When I get home I am going to try to plan a new type of class that I want to try out.  I am not sure if I am going to have it before the holidays or wait until after the first of the year.  Stay tuned to see what it is!!!

The Right Words

Today's card is another one made with the Peaceful Garden Designer Series Paper and the stamp set The Right Words.

This card starts with a Secret Sea card base with a layer of Cloud Cover. Layers some rectangles of Peaceful Gardens Designer Series Paper onto a the piece of Cloud Cover.  Add some glimmer paper, ribbon, embellishments, and sentiment and your card is done.

I had a PT appointment this morning and we have decided that my balance has gotten better enough that I graduated unless I have more issues.  I just still need to be careful and to continue the exercises he has given me.  Woohoo!!

The Right Words

Todays card is one I made this weekend when I wasin Wisconsin.  My friend and I ordered a class called All Occasion Cards from a demonstrator whose site in Confessions of a Stampaholic.  It was a set of four cards all using the same products.  I decided these would be great for this weeks Cards in the Mail.

This card starts with a Cloud Cover card base and layers some rectangles of Peaceful Gardens Designer Series Paper onto a piece of Basic White which is then put onto the card base.  Add some glimmer paper, ribbon, and sentiment and your card is done.

Today is another lazy day spent watching TV and cutting cardstock for upcoming classes.  At least the wind is not blowing like crazy again, if I wanted to go somewhere!!

Love and Courage

Since October is Breast cancer Awareness month, I had to make this card at one of the Make-It-Mondays this month.

This is the Stampin' Up! 'Making the Difference' product for this year.  Stampin' Up! will donate $3.00 to breast cancer organizations
for each purchase of this stamp set.  What a deal . . . you get a cool stamp set and are also helping out a worthy cause!

This is a fun fold card with only the light pink side of the card opening.  It has been embossed with the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder.  The sentiment is stamped on a circle that has been die cut with the Stylish Shapes dies.  Add some Strawberry Slush ribbon and some embellishments from the 2025-2027 Flat Pearl Assortment and you have a beautiful card to send as encouragement to someone who is going through a rough time in their life.

Hopefully I am catching up on my sleep as today I almost missed waking John up so he could get his senior meal.  I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon and hope to cut cardstock when I get home.

Stocking Stuffers

This weekend I went to a stamping retreat house where I spent time just stamping, visiting, and eating.  It was a long drive but well worth it.

All 12 of us made little gifts for each other.  I found these fall motif hand lotions on Amazon and thought they would make a great pillow gift!

I only used twelve of them for this weekend and ordered a box of 40 so I have a few more to make and give out somewhere!  It is a good thing they do not take very long to make!!

After a busy weekend, I bet you can guess what I am going to do today.   If you said "rest" you are absolutely right!

My Thrift Store Find

Last week between appointments I took the opportunity to do a little thrift shopping.  I also went with my friend, Joan, on Saturday.

The find of the trips was this window frame that was already done and is perfect for showcasing cards.  The rustic frame is quite sturdy and should hold up if I choose to transport it anywhere.  The best part of the whole deal was that is was under $10 . . . what a bargain.

Today I am going to gather my supplies and pack my clothes for a weekend retreat.  I am looking forward to spending the weekend with friends and stamping some cool Christmas projects.

Layered Thoughts

I think this simple card had to be a favorite of everyone that stamped this week.

This is actually a gift card holder.  I have folded back the front of the card 1.25" and adhered both ends down so that the gift card will slip into the slot it provides. The rest of the card is pretty straightforward stampin and layering.  You could make several of these in a very short time.  Change out the designer series paper with a Christmas design and you have your gift card holders done on a small amount of time.

It looks beautiful outside but I think it is a little chilly.  I guess I will stay inside and work on pillow gifts!!

Branching Out

Make-It-Monday went very well yesterday.  I think everyone liked the cards we made.  This card made with the Branching Out stamp set and dies was one of the cards we made.

I started with an Old Olive card base and added a layer of Basic Black and another one of Pecan Pie.  I punched several 1 7/8" circlesBasic Black, Mossy Meadow, and Old Olive and adhered them on the Pecan Pie cardstock.  I cut the smallest die shape out of Basic White cardstock and stamped the evergreen branch in Early Espresso and the needles in Old Olive.  The pine cones are stamped with Pecan Pie.  The sentiment is stamped with Old Olive onto Old Olive cardstock.  I added a few Streaked Dots as embellishments.  I really like the way this card turned out.

My day started out with an early morning Physical Therapy appointment and a trip to Riverside to pick up some prescriptions.  This afternoon I am planning on working on my pillow gifts for my stamping retreat this weekend.

Etched Autumn

I love the way this card turned out!!  What do you think?  I have no idea where the PDF for it came from . . . I think maybe from Stampin' Up!© but I knew I had to try it.

My cardbase is Basic White Thick.  I took another piece of regular Basic White measuring 5" X 3.5" and embossed the Etched Autumn stamp with white embossing powder.  Then I took my Blending Brushes and used Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, Old Olive and Blackberry Bliss inks and brushed it over the heat embossed images at an angle.  I wiped it off with a paper towel and then proceed to cut my cardstock into four pieces.  I started by cutting the long side at 2" so I had one strip that was 2" and one was 3".  I cut the two inch piece at 1.5" and the 3" piece at 2.5".  I layered them on the card base and adhered them with adhesive.  I used the light side of the Blackberry Bliss Two Toned Cardstock and punched a 1 7/8" circle.  I embossed the sentiment with the white embossing powder a well.  The embellishments are from the 2025-2027 Flat Pearls collection.

I can't believe it but I think I am ready on time for Make-It-Monday today.  All I have to do is clean off the table after John is done with lunch and I am good to go.  It's been a while sisnce that has happened!!

Simply Said

Do you know anybody with a fall birthday?  This is the perfect card for them.

This card uses the Cajun Craze Two Toned cardstock which has been embossed with the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder and then sanded so that some white peeks through.  One thing I really like about this card is the way the sentiment is attached to the card at an angle.  Just an added bit of interest to your card.

Today looks to be a beautiful day but it is going to be a cardstock cutting kind of day so that I am ready for Make-It-Monday tomorrow.  I have so many cards I want to share I am having difficulty choosing only four . . . the good news is that I will already know what I want to share next time.

Traditional Labels

Today's card is another one of the cards I received in a swap a while back.  Once again it uses one of my favorite designer series papers, Gathering Together.

This card is a fun fold card.  It uses the bookbinding fold.  Only the leafy part of the card will open.  Other than that it is a pretty normal card with the usual stamping and layering.  I do love the interest the fold creates.  Have you tried that yet?

As soon as I am done posting this I am out the door for a day of thrifting and shopping.  I have in my some organizational items for my stamp room and am going to check the thrift shops first before ordering anything on line or buying them in a store.  I am meeting my friend, Joan, for this adventure.  I am sure we will find someplace good lunch as well.  Stay tuned tomorrow to see what I fine!!

Peace on Earth

Today's card is one I got in a swap a while back.  I think it is from my friend Susie.

I love the way she used the two toned cardstock and sanded a little of it off so that there is white peeking through the right hand side of the card.  What a peaceful card . . . it could be used as a sympathy card or just a thinking of you card for someone you think might need some prayers.  It actually could be used as a Christmas card as well.  Give it a try and let me know what you came up with.

For some reason, I must still be catching up on my sleep.  I at least can stay awake during the day, but sleeping in has never been my thing.  It was 9:30 before I woke up this morning.  Half of the day is gone already.

I want to continue to do some reorganizing in my stamp room.  I think I am almost ready to tackle my stamping table.  It has not been used since before I got sick two years ago and just has everything piled on it.  I am almost embarrassed to show you this picture but it might help to hold me accountable for getting it cleaned up!!

Just wait for the after pictures . . . they will be coming soon.  (I hope)

Autumn To Remember (Retired)

My fall card today uses the Gathering Together Designer Series Paper and a retired stamp set called Autumn to Remember.

This is a super simple card where the beautiful designer series paper does all of the work.  The gold foil backing to the sentiment draws out the gold veining in the leaves.  The Streaked Dots have a hint of gold as well.  This fall pack of designer series paper is absolutely awesome.  Be sure and get yours before it is gone or fall ends, whichever comes first.

This has been an interesting week for sure.  I started the week with an 8:00 dentist appointment on Monday where she filled three teeth.  By the time I was done not only did my face hurt, but so did my neck and back.  Today is the first day they have even been halfway comfortable.  And then on Tuesday evening my laptop battery decided it was old and tired just like me and needed replaced.  So I took it to Technology Associates in Iowa City and they checked it over and replaced the battery.  Boy does it work faster now . . . if only I could have my battery replaced!  LOL. Anyway . . . I am resting for the rest of the afternoon and hope to be back to normal tomorrow!!

Artistic Leaves

Today's card is the last of the ones everyone made last week at Make-It-Monday.  It uses the Artistic Leaves and Label Me Grateful stamp sets.

I started with a Basic Beige card base and laid another piece of Basic Beige cardstock in the middle.  With Cajun Craze ink I stamped two of the leaves making sure I had some on both pieces of the basic Beige.  I then took the other leaf stamp and stamped over the first stamp, again making sure that I got ink on both pieces of the cardstock.  I repeated the process, this time usinf Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry.  I added the sentiment from the Label Me Grateful stamp set and added some of the Streaked Dots and my card was done.

It definitely seems strange not getting ready for Hawkeye Football, either in person or on TV.  This week happens to be a bye week for the Hawks.  Good thing there is baseball to watch at 1:00.  Until then I guess I will watch Iowa State Football!

Etched Autumn

Today I have made this colorful fall card using the Etched Autumn and the Artistic Leaves Stamp sets.  I love the way it turned out.

I used sponge daubers and five different color of ink to color the leaves.  I found it easiest to color matching leaves the same color, that way I was sure not to miss any.  I punched the gold circle out of the gold foil cardstock before I adhered the leaf piece to it.  I then adhered that to the Cajun Craze card base and continued building my card.  I love the way it turned out.

I am not sure if I mentioned that John and I both fell last week.  He was behind me and I ended up banging the back of my head on his knee and the floor quite hard.  I still had a headache and sore head a week later so decided to call the doctor.  She wanted me to go get a CT and an x-ray of my skull so I did that Wednesday morning.  All is okay, but they gave me some pain medicine that makes me sleepy so all I have done since then is sleep.  I am hoping to get by with just Tylenol so that I can stay awake today and maybe get something accomplished.
