Waterfront

Waterfront is a great stamp set for making generic sympathy cards.  Paired with Kindness and Compassion and you have the perfect sympathy card, if there is such a thing.

I used the Shimmery White cardstock for the smallest layer of this card because I knew I would be using my AquaPainter and it holds up to water a little bit better than regular cardstock.  I stamped my images like normal and then went over them with the AquaPainter to give them a little softer look.

Hanna and I are sitting at our gate at the Des Moines Airport waiting for our flight to Chicago and then on to Boston.  To say I am excited for this trip is an understatement!!!  Boston has been on my bucket list of places to visit for a long time and then to think that we are going to be there over the 4th of July is icing on the cake.

I am not sure of the WiFi at our hotel so I am not planning on posting again until I get home which will be next Saturday morning!!

Beautiful Friendship

Beautiful Friendship is a stamp set that I really love.  In fact I love it so much that I almost ordered it twice. I caught myself just as I was getting ready to hit submit on the order!!

This is a card that everyone got to make on Monday night.  I think it was a favorite even though it had some tricky directions for part of the card.

Kindness and Compassion

Another card . . .another way to use and showcase some of our awesome designer series paper!!  I absolutely can't believe how awesome they all are the year.  Usually one or maybe two of them catch my eye . . . but not so this year . . . they all have!!

This would be super cool for just about any occasion with a change out of sentiment and paper.  I can see cool birthday cards with the dinosaur paper for kids or for women with the Magnolia Lane paper.

Daisy Lane

I have always liked the Daisy Delight stamp set, so was thrilled when they came out with its little sister . . . Daisy Lane.  While this card does not use the matching daisy or punch, they pair beautifully together.

This card, which I found on Pinterest, is one that everyone will be making on Monday night. The only downfall to this card is all of the fussy cutting that it involves.

Here's a Card

Isn't that an awesome name for a stamp set!!  Because after all . . . isn't that what we do  . . . send cards??  This set has you covered for many different occasions!!  The sentiment on the front of this card could easily go on the inside as well if you prefer a sympathy sentiment on the front.

I am still trying to use designer series paper instead of hoarding it and why wouldn't I??  The paper that is in the new catalog is absolutely awesome. This card could so easily be made for any occasion with a change out of sentiments.  And it is super easy as well!!

Yesterday was a very productive day  . . . I finished up all the cards that were left over from the Make-It-Monday before I left for Chicago and got over half of the 50 special order cards done.  I am hoping to finish those up today and maybe start working on cards for a swap I joined before going to an appointment for my shoulder late this afternoon.  It sure does help when I have a list and plan out when I want to get things done and can see them getting marked off of the list!!

Free As a Bird

Here is another of the fancy folds we made at the retreat in Wisconsin.  The more I work with the Free As a Bird set the more I like it!!!

Belly bands were the name of the game at this particular retreat.  I am thinking that I may remake this card for a Make-It-Monday card without the belly band.

And here is the inside of this card . . . I did not mess this one up.  The fold was a little tricky, but I think I could make it easier for the Monday night card and get the same effect!!

Abstract Impressions

Here is another one of the cards we made at the Fancy Fold Retreat.   I love the outside design of the card . . . it worked for me quite well.  However the inside is not so pretty . . . LOL!! I had a bit of difficulty with the folding, so it will stay hidden.

I have used the Abstract Impressions stamp set quite a bit, but never this combination of flowers.   I think I kind of like it.  That is one of the great things about attending other events . . . you see things in a different way!!

The Chicago trip was fun . . . it started the way many trips by train do . . . with the train being late, but once we got there, it was a ton of fun.  Many miles walked and many sites seen!  After arriving home about 8:00 Friday night, I got to sleep in my own bed one night and we were off again for Des Moines, and my niece's wedding.  We started the day with John being able to see Hanna and Jake's new house and then a fabulous Chinese Buffet lunch. A few tears were shed at the wedding as she is the youngest grandchild on my side of the family!!  And even though my brother really does not want to admit it . . . he looks so much like my dad as he gets older!!  A good time was had by all!!  John and I got home on early Sunday afternoon and after a short nap we were off with Julie and Jason for a Father's Day supper.

I think I am going to rest today!!

Free As A Bird

Another one of the fancy fold cards we made at the retreat was a waterfall card.  I have made them before, but it has been a long time ago.

There is not a lot of stamping on this card . . . again the designer series paper does all of the work for you.

As you pull down on the lacy ribbon, each panel is another pattern of the paper with the words "thank you" stamped on them.

Good Morning, Magnolia

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous . . . .that is the only word I can think of for the designer series paper in the Magnolia Suite!!   I think they are all beautiful, but this one is my personal favorite.  The idea for this one comes from a demonstrator named Kylie, that is in Australia.  She has been encouraging people to USE their designer series paper instead of hoarding it and I have been really trying to do that.

The card is super simple, but yet very pretty because the paper does all of the work!!  This is one of the cards that everyone will be making tonight at Make-It-Monday.

Free as a Bird

Wow . . . the Bird Ballad Laser Cut Tin and Cards is absolutely awesome.  The intricate laser cut front of the card and the scalloped envelope add just the right touch to a fancy card.

I did stamp the flowers and the leaves on scrap paper and then used my paper snips to fussy cut them.  This is another one of the cards that everyone will be making on Monday night at Make-It-Monday.

To A Wild Rose

This stamp set . . . To a Wild Rose is actually a three step stamp, but it looks just as gorgeous with only the outline stamped.  This is a card I saw on a stamping video by a demonstrator named Stamp Doc.

I just happened to have an extra rose sitting on my stamping table after making some swaps and was watching some stamping videos and this seemed like a perfect card for a Make-It-Monday.

It Starts With Art

Today is the first Thursday of the Month so that means that it is Technique Thursday.  The Fancy Fold weekend made planning this month very easy.  One of the techniques we are going to work with is the magic card.

I have seen this card many times but thought it would be very difficult so never really looked into it that much.  It is really quite easy, once you see how it works.  This is what the front of the card looks like.

Five Panel Fold Card

Another one of the fancy folds we made this weekend was the Five Panel Fold card.  Now when we were given a pack of this paper at On Stage I did not care for it at all!!  But seeing it used this way . . . where there is an image cut from the paper . . . I could grow to like it.

The papers really do compliment each other quite well when they are layered on each other.

And when you open up the card . . . this is what you get.  the two birds I was given seemed to fit just right so that it looks like they are tussling over the sprig!!

To A Wild Rose

While I was away at a Stampin' Retreat this weekend there was a local demonstrator meeting.  Luetta took my swaps for me to the meeting.  This is the one I made with my favorite (at least for now) stamp set . . . To a Wild Rose.

Coloring with a clear Wink of Stella and re-inker gives you such a dazzling effect on the flowers.  Although it can be a lot of work I think it is so worth it.

The Fancy Folds Weekend really stretched my brain!!  My spatial ability is not that great and you kind of needed it for some of the fancy folds we did.  Thanks to my table mates, Christy and Melissa, I came home with ten super cards.  I need to get photos taken so that I can share them with you. 

Today I am going to be busy figuring out what I need to order tomorrow when the new catalog goes live for the product shares and for my first catalog order!!  It is supposed to be a nice afternoon so I may just do that outside on my patio so I can enjoy the lovely weather before it rains again!!
