Sayonara Summer Stamp Camp

I hope you can join me!!!

Convention---Last Day

Create and Sing woke up refreshed and ready for the last day of the Stampin' Up! Convention Saturday morning. It was going to be a big day. They attended another model workshop and got some great ideas for both holding workshops and cards. The second session they attended was on Change.......how to handle it and grow from the experience!! There were not too many dry eyes in the classroom when the session was finished. After lunch, another quick trip through the Momento Mall, and a walk outside to Subway for a drink they were ready for the last big session. As they arrived in the auditorium the Stampin' Up! band was playing and people were dancing everywhere? Do you think they joined in???

This session again gave them a lot of neat stamping ideas and yet another free give-away!! All demonstrators that were at this session received a free set that will be in the Holiday Mini catalog as well as a CD of digital downloads for the My Digital Studio.

Before leaving the convention center for the last time this year they got their pictures take with their new friend Tanya from Forrest City. They plan to stay in touch this year!!

The evening was spent doing shoe box swaps with some other demonstrators from Iowa, North Dakota, and Montana. Again they got some wonderful card ideas and samples. Midnight saw them sitting in their hotel lobby waiting until 2:30 to go to the Amtrak station to catch their train home.

If only they had known what was to come in the next two days!!!

Convention--Day 2

Sorry.........no blog update last night...........Create was wiped out!!!

Here is the beautiful Salt Palace where the Stampin' Up! Convention is held each year. It is a beautiful facility capable of holding many crazy women.

Today Sing and Create were privileged to attend a model workshop demonstrated by Mary Ellen Byler from Ohio. She is one of the top demonstrators with the company and they got many wonderful ideas from her.

Here are a few more shots of their great accomodations which they will be sorry to be leaving.

Create even got to use her minimal Chinese skills........at least she understood, hello, good-bye, and thank you!!

Thursday--Convention Day 1

Thursday morning was the opening session of the Stampin' Convention. Who would have thought that this many women could get this excited about stamping products!!!

During the opening session we saw many of the products that will be in the new Holiday Mini catalog.............they are pretty cool!!!

After a delicious lunch, Sing and Create went off to their make and take session, where in their usual fashion, they finished some of the projects but not all of them. A trip to the Momento Mall and a few pictures later they were ready to head back to the hotel for a bit of a rest.

After a brief rest, they tried a new pizza restaurant.......Pier 49 pizza. It rated a two thumbs up in the pizza department.

At the Awards ceremony one of Sing and Create's friend's was 39 in the top 100 Demonstrators in the United States. After cheering her on they were ready for a good night's sleep.

Wednesday--Pre-convention Day

After a leisurely breakfast in our room, compliments of the Kalona Bakery and Little Debbie we headed out to pick up our convention bags and see the sights. We toured the Stampin Up Headquarters. Who couldn't be creative in such great surroundings?

After a short rest period we went back to the Salt Palace for the Convention Kick-Off party. Imagine thousands of women, most wearing hats, and swapping madly. Train lag had set in for Sing and Create, so we sat very quietly and watched. Games were played and prizes given out. Create actually won a free stamp set and spool of ribbon. Look for it to be used in an upcoming class.

Can you see Sing way up there? Probably not!! But she is there!!

Check back tomorrow for the further adventures of Sing and Create!!

Late Night Arrival

We arrived in Salt Lake City late Tuesday night. After sharing a cab ride with a wonderful stamping couple from Iowa, we checked into our hotel. Bad news!!! They had to change our room!!

We were upgraded to a luxurious suite on the 16th floor. Almost as big as our classrooms. Not bad news in our book!!

The view outside our balcony windows.........The Traverse Mountains.

The Adventures Of Sing and Create

Beautiful scenery, 27 tunnels, many snacks, and 30 hours later Sing and Create (as we became known on the train) arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah ready for 4 fun-filleddays of stamping, swapping, and sightseeing.

We left Mount Pleasant Monday evening, July 11th at 6:45.......only 45 minutes late, which if you know anything about Amtraks really means you left early.

After we had a pleasant night's sleep (not) we were ready for a day of beautiful scenery. After getting off the train in Denver for a few breaths of fresh air, we left for our adventure through the Rocky Mountains. The Amtrak takes you through many canyons and valleys that are not accesible any other way.

Favorite Sale-a-Bration set

I think the Sweet Summer stamp set has to be my favorite SAB set this year. It has such clean and simple lines. This card made with Early Espresso cardstock and ink could be used for just about any occasion by simply changing the sentiment. Basic pearls as well as the Framed Tulip Embossing folder serve as embellishments for this card.

Remember....there are only two days left of Sale-a-Bration!

A Note of Thanks

Don't you just love this Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper? It's one of my favorites and only available for another month. These one layer cards use Rose Red and Very Vanilla cardstock with Rose Red and Basic Gray ink. They are embellished with Pretty in Pink, Marina Mist, Certainly Celery, and Daffodil Delight Taffeta ribbons.

Saturday Stamp Fest

The 10th annual Stamp Fest was held today in Wellman. We had a total of 15 projects. Here are the morning projects.......all cards using a variety of techniques and for a variety of occasions.

Everyone is hard at work stamping and visiting. A good time was had by all, I think.

Once again Luetta did an awesome job with the lunch.......barbeque pork sandwiches, party potatoes and whipped fruit salad. It always seems to be a favorite.

And of course dessert........chocolate angel food cake with whipped topping.

Here are the 7 afternoon stamp projects......5 cards and "book" of chocolate and a small decorated journal.

What Have I Been Doing???

What have I been doing lately besides getting ready for our fabulous Stamp Fest on Saturday?? Making 75 thank you cards.......that's what. Hanna is trying to raise funds for a mission trip to Sierra Leone and needed some thank you cards. These were super easy to make.........choose any background paper you like (we chose some that had an African theme) and die cut ovals for your sentiment. Presto.........you have a lot of cards in a very short time.......and they look pretty cool if I do say so myself.

Stamp Camp Cards

For those of you that were unable to come to stamp class Monday night here are a couple of the cards we made. The first card uses my new favorite stamp set "Nature Walk" from the Occasions Mini catalog. It also uses Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler cardstock. Notice how neat the knot looks when tied with the Crumb Cake seam binding.

The second card teams Pretty In Pink cardstock with Baja Breeze. I used the Create a Cupcake stamp set and punch to create this card. Both products are found in the Occasions Mini catalog. This card would look nice made in many different color combinations.

I hope you can join me at either my next stamp class on March 14th in Iowa City or March 16th at my home in Wellman where we will focus on using this stamp set and punch to create 6 birthday cards or at Stamp Fest on Saturday, March 12th. If you would like more information on either of these stamping opportunities give me a call or send an email.

Color Lab

If you are like me you can struggle for colors to make your cards. I happened upon this Color Lab this morning. It is AWESOME!! You type in what color of Stampin' Up! cardstock you would like to use and it generates several color combinations for you. I will put a link on the sidebar as well so you can always find this great resource.

Punch Bunch and Bliss

Here are a couple more samples using Sale-a-Bration sets. The first one uses the Punch Bunch stamps set and the second one uses the set Bliss. You can earn either one of these sets for FREE with a $50 order. I hope to see many of you at Stamp camp next Monday the 28th or Wednesday the 2nd. We will have lots of chocolate and many card ideas!!

Stamp Fest

Luetta and I sat down the other night and planned our Saturday Stamp Fest for March 12th. I really hope you can join us at the Federation Bank in Wellman, Iowa. We will be making 15 projects and having a wonderful catered lunch (by Luetta, complete with chocolate angel food cake) all for the small fee of $32. Give me a call or email me if you would like more details.

Here are a couple more of the cards we made at Stamp class last Monday night. They both use sets you can get for FREE during Sale-A-Bration.

My calendar is filling fast. If you would like to schedule a workshop so that you and your friends can take advantage of this great sale, shoot me an email and we will get your date on the calendar.

Trying Again

One of my goals is to really get this blog going and trying to update at least every couple of days. Obviously I haven't been all that successful yet........but I will try it again.

While I might not have been blogging, I definitely have been stamping. Sale-a-Bration is in full swing and I have been stamping up a storm with the free sets you can receive with a $50 order.

This first card uses a Sale-a-Bration set called Sweet Summer. I have used Basic Grey, Whisper White, and Pretty in Pink cardstock as well as Basic Grey Ink and a Pretty in Pink Marker and piece of ribbon.

This second card uses the set Thanks for Caring that is from the Occasions Mini catalog that is good through the end of April. Colors used in this card are Pretty in Pink, So saffron, and Very Vanilla. The So Saffron has been run through the Big Shot using the Finial Press Embossing Folder.
