Carols of Christmas

I have today and tomorrow yet to share Carols of Christmas cards then I will move on to something new.  There are just so many possibilities with this stamp set.

The copper foil is so pretty and is just the thing this card needed along with the copper embossed star swirl in the background.

Stamps: Carols of Christmas, Star of Light
Cardstock: Very Vanilla Thick, Fresh Fig, Very Vanilla, Copper Foil
Ink: Fresh Fig
Accessories: Stitched Shapes Framelits, Big Shot,
Versa Mark, Copper Embossing Powder, Heat Tool,
1/4" Copper Trim, Stampin' Dimensionals

We finished up our road trip yesterday with a visit to the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake.

The ballroom was something I had always heard about, but had never visited. It was really quite interesting and much bigger than I had anticipated.  I could just visualize it full of people, a lot of them on the dance floor.

We finished out the morning just sitting by the lake listening to the waves.

A great couple of days all within three hours of home.  I am sure there are many more places just like this in Iowa that would make great road trips.

Big On Birthdays

Dauber Dots was another one of the techniques we did at Technique Club last Thursday night.  I found this example on a blog I follow . . . Flowerbug's Inkspot.

If you did not want the muted look of the dauber dots, you could stamp the sentiment just over the dots.

Stamps: Big On Birthdays
Cardstock: Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White, Vellum Cardstock
Ink: Wisteria Wonder, Old Olive, marina Mist, Basic Black
Accessories: Sponge Daubers, Clear Faceted Gems, Glue Dots

I am definitely loving the cooler temperatures the last few days.  It is a double edged sword, however.  Because now I want to be both outside reading and inside playing with my pre-order stamp sets that came last Thursday.  I have been so busy since then I haven't even opened the box yet.  I am hoping to do that today!!

Big On Birthdays

Embossing paste was one of the things that the members of Technique/Stamp Club wanted to try so we did that last Thursday.

It really is easier to use than you would think.  Here we let it get good and dry and then sponged over the bricks with a sponge dauber and Soft Suede ink.

Stamps: Big On Birthdays
Cardstock: Early Espresso
Ink: Early Espresso, Soft Suede,
Berry Burst and Old Olive Markers
Accessories: Embossing Paste, Pattern Party Decorative Masks,
Palette Knives, Sponge Daubers,
Berry Burst 1/2" Finely Woven Ribbon

As soon as I am done posting this I am out the door to set up at a Vendor/Craft market in Iowa City.  I am not sure how well attended it will be since it is on a Sunday and only from 12-4, but we shall see.  Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised!!

Paisleys & Posies

I just had to revisit a card from last year because I absolutely feel thankful, grateful, and blessed!!

The embossing folder and the dots in this card are now retired, but I still love this card!!

Stamps: Paisleys & Posies
Cardstock: Pumpkin Pie, Perfect Plum, Old Olive, Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Paisleys Framelits Dies, Big Shot, Fine Tip Glue Pen

The reason for the repeat card and why I am feeling especially thankful, grateful, and blessed is that my surgery was a year ago today.  I am certainly thankful to be on this side of the last year, rather than just starting out. When starting this journey the tunnel seemed like I would never see the light at the end, but in looking back at it now, I can't believe how quickly and easily this last year has passed!!!  Like I said . . . thankful, grateful, and blessed.

Everyday is a gift . . . make the most of the gift you have been given today!!

Color Theory Memories and More Card Pack

The last season and probably my favorite (at least in the card making world) is the winter season.

I am certainly not ready for snow, but I do love these cards!!  There is something about staying inside where it is warm and cozy and watching it snow, snow, snow!!  Especially when I do not have to go anywhere if I don't want to!!

Cardstock: Night of Navy, Dapper Denim, Whisper White, Silver Foil, Silver Glimmer Paper
Accessories: Layering Squares Framelits, Seaonal Layers Thinlits, Big Shot,
1/8" Silver Ribbon, Glue Dots, Stampin' Dimensionals

Check out a close up of each of the cards!!

I thought today was going to be a low key day with not much to do, but Hanna is having a phone crisis (as in it won't work and is doing weird things) and since I am the primary account holder they won't do anything to help her unless I am there.  So I will be making a flying trip to Des Moines.  I am just very thankful I can do this today . . . as exactly one year ago today was my surgery and the beginning of a very eventful year!!

Color Theory Memories and More Card Pack

Working my way backwards around the seasonal clock, here are the spring cards made from the Color Theory card pack.

The inspiration for these cards as well as the others for the other season came from Pinterest.

Stamps: Colorful Seasons
Cardstock: Berry Burst, Smoky Slate
Designer Series Paper: Color Theory
Ink: Berry Burst
Accessories:  Stitched Shapes Framelits,
Layering Circles Framelits, Big Shot,
Color Theory Memories and More Card Pack, Glitter Enamel Dots,
Delicate White Doilies, Stampin' Dimensionals

Check out the close up of each card.  I was really happy with the way they all came out.

You can bet I will be adding more of these card packs to the stamp club order for tonight.  I am anxious to try making cards with the other sets.  I need to finish up gathering the supplies for tonight before the Cubs game comes on this afternoon.  With a rainy day it shouldn't be too hard to stay inside and stamp and watch baseball.

Thankful Thoughts

I needed a bunch of thank you notes yesterday and this one was very easy to mass produce!!

I chose the Lemon Lime Twist color because I had a lot of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, but this would be equally as pretty in any of the other new In-Colors.

Stamps: Thankful Thoughts
Cardstock: Whisper White Thick, Lemon Lime Twist, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Fresh Florals
Ink: Lemon Lime Twist
Accessories: 1/2" Circle Punch, Stampin Dimensionals,
Mini Stampin' Dimensionals

I used to dread the first of August, because that meant work and a schedule were right around the corner.  I have to admit that thought crossed my mind when I typed the date for this blog post!!  However . . . after a second thought, my mind quickly went to all of the things I can do this fall!!  And do them, I will.  Even though I did not slow down much last fall, it seems like there were a lot of things I wanted to do but could not.  So this fall will be full of adventures.  Not sure what all they will be, but I am sure I will find something!!
